💚Funeral service deserves honest conversations and real transparency. For too long, what we do has felt hidden behind a curtain, when in reality it’s a profession rooted in skill, compassion, and deep responsibility.

🚪We are working hard to open the doors, lift the veil, and help our community better understand the care, preparation, and dedication that goes into serving families during one of the most important moments of their lives. By talking openly about our work, we can build trust, educate the public, and bring well-deserved awareness to the professionalism and heart behind funeral service. 🕊️

📣Despite an old story you may have heard, I can assure you that dead bodies do not sit up. Once someone is deceased, they no longer have the muscle tone or ability to sit up. And no, rigor mortis does not cause a body to sit up.
Stiffen? Yes. Sit up? No. 🪑

Every profession has room to grow. Ours is no different. The goal is always the same: serve families better, communicate more clearly, and build more trust in our communities. ❤️

🌿Choosing the right funeral home truly does matter. In one of life's most tender moments, the place you walk into and the people who greet you shape the entire experience. Not all funeral homes are the same. Some feel clinical and outdated; others feel like a warm embrace.

💚Here, our facilities are thoughtfully updated, inviting, and homelike- designed to bring comfort instead of cold formality.

🍃Our service is second to none, rooted in compassion, attention to detail, and genuine care for every family we serve. And perhaps most importantly, those entrusted to us look like themselves-peaceful, natural, and dignified. Because honoring a life means honoring their family left behind and caring for them in the best way possible.

The leather church truck surround keeps the casket looking good and at the right height - no lifting onto a bier required. My backs appreciate it every single time.

🚨 GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT #1 🚨

We told you the March 12th episode of As The Hearse Turns was going to bring together some of the most progressive voices in funeral service…

So let’s start with someone who has been living and breathing this profession for over two decades.

🔥 Introducing Michelle Muccio-Krise, Funeral Director.

Michelle’s journey into funeral service started at just 18 years old, and for the past 25 years she has built a career centered on service, leadership, and community.

After graduating from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2003, Michelle became licensed in Maryland, working at a large firm before returning home to St. Marys, Pennsylvania in 2005.

Today she is the owner of Lynch-Green Funeral Home in St. Marys and co-owner of Krise Funeral Homes in Ridgway and Kersey alongside her husband Roy — operating as a husband and wife team dedicated to providing meaningful, personalized care to every family they serve.

But Michelle’s impact doesn’t stop at the funeral home doors.

She also serves as:

⚫ District 10 Governor – Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association
⚫ Elk County Coroner for the past 14 years
⚫ Licensed Pennsylvania Insurance Agent helping families pre-fund funerals
⚫ School Board Member for the Elk County Catholic School System

She and Roy are proud parents of four children, active members of Queen of the World Church, and when she finally gets a break from serving families, you’ll find Michelle enjoying boating, side-by-side riding, camping, or snowmobiling with her family.

🎙️ March 12th is shaping up to be a powerhouse conversation about the future of funeral service — and Michelle is bringing 25 years of real-world experience to the table.

And this is just the first introduction.

👀 More panelists will be announced throughout the week.

Trust me… you’re going to want to hear what this group has to say.

Follow As The Hearse Turns so you don’t miss the show.

🌿Over the last two decades, the funeral profession has transformed in ways we never could have imagined. What was once a very private, traditional, and often “behind closed doors” industry is now evolving into something far more personal, transparent, and centered on celebration and healing. 🌿

📢Families today want meaningful experiences, flexible options, and a voice in how they honor their loved ones—and that shift has pushed most of us in funeral service to grow, modernize, and truly listen. 👂

📣And we’re not done evolving. As conversations around death, grief, green burial, cremation, and personalization continue to expand, our profession will keep changing right alongside them.

💚I’m working hard to bring what we do to the forefront—to invite people in instead of shutting them out, to educate instead of mystify, and to gently lift the veil on funeral service. Because when people understand the care, skill, and heart behind what we do, it removes fear and replaces it with trust.💕

Personalizing services is one of my favorite things to do and one small way I can do that is by honoring Grandparents and the special bonds they share with their grandchildren. I want to know: what do your grandchildren call you? 💕
