🦆 One activity. Two therapies. Endless skill building.

In our preschool class, we intentionally blend Speech + OT into one cohesive, play-based experience.

First stop: Speech Therapy 💬
Children selected a duck from the water and answered WH-questions, identified numbers, and compared concepts like big vs. small.

➡️ Targeting: receptive/expressive language, vocabulary development, auditory processing, and cognitive concepts.

Next stop: Occupational Therapy ✏️
Students matched the number on their duck to the number posted on the vertical surface.
Then they used small rock crayons to color the matching number — working to stay within boundaries and follow back-and-forth directions.

➡️ Targeting:
• Visual scanning & number recognition
• Cross-midline & shoulder stability (vertical surface work!)
• Fine motor strength & grasp development
• Visual-motor integration
• Direction following & task completion

This is what inclusive, collaborative therapy looks like.

Using visual supports helps children:
🧠 Remember key details
🔄 Sequence events (first, next, last)
🗣️ Expand expressive language
💬 Answer WH-questions with confidence

When we make language visible, we reduce cognitive load and strengthen comprehension. Visuals give kids an anchor so stories truly stick.

This simple lacing activity is building the foundations for writing, dressing, buttoning, zipping, cutting, and overall independence.

It looks like play.
It feels like play.

Occupational Therapy helps kids do the everyday “jobs” of childhood 🧩🎨✏️

We work on the skills kids need to play, learn, and grow—in ways that feel fun, motivating, and meaningful.

OT can support:

POSSIBLE snow day at home this weekend. Turn it into an obstacle course!

No fancy equipment needed—just a little creativity:

• Jump over pillows = “snowdrifts”
• Crawl through a blanket tunnel = “snow cave”
• Walk heel-to-toe on tape or a towel = “icy bridge”
• Toss socks into a basket = “snowball toss”
• Follow 2–3 directions before moving to the next station

These simple courses help build balance, coordination, attention, and language—all through play.

Even on snow days, children can keep moving, learning, and growing. 🤍
