🍁 A Wonderfully Creative Afternoon! 🍁
We had such a fun and imaginative time at our Blustery Day Workshop! Children created their own fall masterpieces using colorful stones, glass, and beads — each piece telling a unique story. A huge thank you to the talented Amy Effler for inspiring creativity and guiding our young artists through this beautiful, story-filled art experience.

Take a look at our amazing St. Michaels Farmers Market! 💚

Fresh-food access for all is a key mission of the St. Michaels Farmers Market. In the midst of our current government shutdown, the Trump administration has denied the release of contingency funding to continue payments for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, aka SNAP, leaving millions around the country—and nearly 3,000 of our own community members in Talbot County—on the verge of losing access to this vital resource, starting November 1.

At the SMFM, we pride ourselves on being a SNAP-friendly market, meaning that not only do we accept these federal nutritional benefits as a form of payment, but working with , we match the spending of our SNAP customers, offering up to $20 additional dollars to double the amount of fresh food they are able to be purchase at market each week. Over the course of a month, that’s as much as $160 in local fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, bread, eggs, and more sold to each participating neighbor in need—also supporting our local farmers and our local economy along the way. We are the only farmers market in Talbot County, and one of the only a few on the Delmarva Peninsula, to accept SNAP benefits.

FOR OUR SNAP CUSTOMERS: The SMFM is here to help. Luckily, has stepped in to cover $20 of their original SNAP funding. And through the end of this year’s market season, we will continue to provide our match for SNAP purchases. This means that SNAP customers will continue to be able to spend up to $40 at the SMFM! FOR OUR NON-SNAP CUSTOMERS: You can play a part, too! Through the end of 2025, all donations to the SMFM will be directed to our SNAP programming. Our SMES Kindergarten classes and Judy Center families had a wonderful time at JZ Farms — exploring the farm and playing outdoors. We also enjoyed a puppet show! Thank you to JZ Farms for a fantastic fall adventure full of laughter, learning, and memories!

We joined the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for one of their last Fishing Friday opportunities. Our families had fun baiting, casting, and catching a few fish! 🐟🎣🪱

Today was all about fall fun as our SMES Pre-K and Judy Center playgroup families joined us for an exciting trip to Councell Farms! From selecting the perfect pumpkins to playing and laughing, it was a day full of smiles, learning, and unforgettable memories. 🧡
