Last week we found ourselves overwhelmed (in the best way đ„č) with community supplies sent to us from people out of state (and even outside the U.S.!) via an Amazon wishlist set up by some new friends of ours from Chicago who, despite struggling with ICEâs presence in their own town, are both regularly visiting in person and providing Minnesotans with guidance and a listening ear from afar.
This shipment included everything from handwarmers and winter gear to medic supplies, foodstuffs, and things needed for folks being released from the Whipple federal building. We are actively working with partner organizations like Zion Community Commons, Rising Waters, North Star Health Collective, and Freedom Street Health to get these and future shipments into the hands of those who need it most, as well as setting up a framework so that these communities might continue to get at least some of what they need from a local small business (us!) instead of corporate entities like Amazon.com, Target, CVS Pharmacy, and Walgreens.
