On November 20th, there will be an exciting and complex new moon at 28 degrees Scorpio. Not only are the Sun and Moon conjunct, but Mercury is also at 28 degrees Scorpio, highlighting ease in all forms of communication, particularly where deep and powerful emotions are involved. These three planets are tightly conjunct in Scorpio, a water sign, and they create a grand trine with Saturn and Neptune in late Pisces, and Jupiter in Cancer, also water signs. You may remember hearing about a grand trine in air signs during the Virgo new moon and another grand trine in water signs during the Libra new moon.

This is the last one in a series where the outer planets have aligned with the lunations and lit up the heavens with this symbol of ease and harmony. If you have planets between 20-29 degrees of Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer, or 0-7 degrees of Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo, this new moon is particularly supportive to you.
This new moon is more exciting and unpredictable than the last two because opposing the Sun, Moon, and Mercury is Uranus, in the final degree of Ta**us, representing the great awakener and an agent of change. Where a grand trine is a static closed system, Uranus creates a kite formation where the two planets in opposition creates tension which can generate motivation and action. These next couple weeks suggest unexpected upheavals and unforeseen changes integrating
Scorpio season, in the northern hemisphere, corresponds with longer nights, colder temperatures and the promise of winter as plants, trees and vines briefly show their brilliant hues of crimsons, oranges, and golds before they die. This is the time of year where many cultures believe the veil between the living and dead is thin, and we are more able to contact loved ones on the other side. No wonder Scorpio is associated with life’s mysteries.
On November 9, Mercury went retrograde in early Sagittarius. By November 29 it will turn direct, following Saturn which turned direct on the 28th. These last three months Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus have been in retrograde motion, covering old ground and bringing up unfinished business from the past. By February 2026 all of the outer planets will once again be in forward motion and support momentum for new beginnings, along with a very special conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees Aries.
