On November 20th, there will be an exciting and complex new moon at 28 degrees Scorpio. Not only are the Sun and Moon conjunct, but Mercury is also at 28 degrees Scorpio, highlighting ease in all forms of communication, particularly where deep and powerful emotions are involved. These three planets are tightly conjunct in Scorpio, a water sign, and they create a grand trine with Saturn and Neptune in late Pisces, and Jupiter in Cancer, also water signs. You may remember hearing about a grand trine in air signs during the Virgo new moon and another grand trine in water signs during the Libra new moon.

This is the last one in a series where the outer planets have aligned with the lunations and lit up the heavens with this symbol of ease and harmony. If you have planets between 20-29 degrees of Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer, or 0-7 degrees of Sagittarius, Aries, and Leo, this new moon is particularly supportive to you.

This new moon is more exciting and unpredictable than the last two because opposing the Sun, Moon, and Mercury is Uranus, in the final degree of Ta**us, representing the great awakener and an agent of change. Where a grand trine is a static closed system, Uranus creates a kite formation where the two planets in opposition creates tension which can generate motivation and action. These next couple weeks suggest unexpected upheavals and unforeseen changes integrating
Scorpio season, in the northern hemisphere, corresponds with longer nights, colder temperatures and the promise of winter as plants, trees and vines briefly show their brilliant hues of crimsons, oranges, and golds before they die. This is the time of year where many cultures believe the veil between the living and dead is thin, and we are more able to contact loved ones on the other side. No wonder Scorpio is associated with life’s mysteries.

On November 9, Mercury went retrograde in early Sagittarius. By November 29 it will turn direct, following Saturn which turned direct on the 28th. These last three months Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus have been in retrograde motion, covering old ground and bringing up unfinished business from the past. By February 2026 all of the outer planets will once again be in forward motion and support momentum for new beginnings, along with a very special conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees Aries. To find out more about this exciting new beginning stay tuned to upcoming newsletters.

On October 21, 2025, the new moon in Libra ushers in two complex astrological patterns, a Grand Square and a Grand Trine. Libra is signified by the scales of justice and calls our collective attention to the need for fairness, collaboration, and cooperation. This complex and conflicted new moon suggests that the following weeks will continue to be full of complications and continued disruptions, interestingly enough with other parts of life going well.

The Grand Square is an astrological pattern made of two oppositions and four squares, indicating heightened and opposing forces in conflict with one another. In this pattern the Sun and Moon oppose Chiron, square Pluto and square Jupiter. Three of the four planets are in Cardinal signs, energies that demand action, and can be prone to overreaching or overreacting because of the influence of Jupiter. Chiron relates to health, and health care, while Pluto can represent power struggles. Jupiter can expand the problems that exist or bring about change through the use of wisdom.

A Grand Trine corresponds to an area of life where energy flows freely and the planets support each other. This Trine connects Mercury conjunct Mars to Saturn and Neptune and finally to Jupiter. Four of the five planets are in water signs, representing our emotional nature, and intersect the Grand Square pattern on Jupiter in Cancer. In astrology, Jupiter is considered exalted in the sign of Cancer, meaning it can express its natural qualities of expansion, abundance, and wisdom with greater ease and harmony. This combination is seen as beneficial, particularly for emotional matters, as Cancer is ruled by the Moon and associated with home, family, and feelings.

In the best-case scenario Jupiter’s wisdom would create a positive outcome for major conflicts, particularly the ones relating to health care. So, while things in the world around us may continue to be disruptive, this new moon is a good time to easily resolve any emotional difficulties and enjoy the people you love.

On September 21 we will experience a new moon Solar Eclipse. For a multitude of reasons, this is a “big one” for a Solar Eclipse. Not only are the Sun and Moon conjunct at 29 degrees of Virgo, symbolic of the very height of Virgo’s capacity for discrimination and discernment, but this new moon is part of two larger patterns: a Kite and a Mystic Rectangle. Because this new moon is happening with a Solar Eclipse, the energy and potential for change will stay active during the next six months or longer. Whatever you begin in the next few days has great power!

Solar Eclipse cycles repeat every 18.6 years and bring both new beginnings and events which often feel like a crisis, since the nature of eclipses is to shine light on darkness, or illuminate the shadow. Unlike Lunar Eclipses where the impact is felt close to the date on which it happens, Solar Eclipses can begin to manifest two to three months before and after they happen. This makes them even more difficult to predict and understand. There are lots of “triggers” for the September 21 Solar eclipse around that date, and then again in early October. When you begin to feel like you are dealing with circumstances beyond your control, most likely that is the Solar Eclipse in action.

This eclipse, because it’s on a cusp, will be important for people born with planets in late degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces and Gemini, as well as folks with planets in early degrees of Libra, Capricorn, Aries, and Cancer.

To understand more about this Eclipse, let’s start with the Kite. This pattern doesn’t happen very often because it involves six planets or points including one opposition, one Grand Trine and two sextiles. When it does appear, it indicates a harmonious flow of energy or a period when things just “work out”. That’s because the ease of the Grand Trine is paired with an opposition (enough tension to keep us motivated) and a bit of extra support (two sextiles).

This Grand Trine includes the Sun and Moon at 29 Virgo (earth) trine Pluto in Aquarius (air) trine Uranus in Gemini (air). The air element supports new ideas, productive communication, and linked with Virgo, a capacity for manifesting those ideas into practical and productive outcomes. Retrograde Pluto brings depth of understanding and the urge for reform while retrograde Uranus grants us the freedom to innovate a bit more slowly than usual. The opposition within the Kite is between the combined Sun and Moon (a new beginning) opposite Saturn (limitations/lessons) and Neptune (dreams/confusion). This is a time of finding balance between our visions and reality and setting clear intentions while trusting the universe.

A Mystic Rectangle consists of two oppositions, two trines and two sextiles: another multi-planet and unusual pattern. Energetically this represents polarities that work together to find common ground. This specific pattern combines all four elements; fire, earth, air and water which is very unusual because so many of the planets are at the end of one zodiac sign and the beginning of another. The elemental completeness brings a heightened creativity for solving problems.

Despite what is happening politically, this new moon highlights a time to use your capacity of discernment (29 degrees Virgo) combined with your many talents (Grand Trine/Mystic Rectangle) to start something new or create an intention for change in your life. Change is made from many small steps, and now is the time to begin.

On August 23 we will have the first of two new moons in the sign of Virgo. The first one is exactly on 0 degrees. Then on September 21, the Sun and Moon will meet again, this time at 29 degrees of Virgo. This doubling up happens every 29 months.

Virgo, the corn goddess, is associated with the harvest, a time in the northern hemisphere where fruits and vegetables are abundant and coming to the end of their season. Individuals born with planets in Virgo are hard workers, practical, stable and nurturing. More than any other zodiac sign Virgos pay attention to details. This can result in excellence, perfectionism, and a hyper critical nature.

As many of you know, on July 8th when Uranus entered Gemini for the first time in 84 years, we collectively dipped a toe into a new astrological era. For the next couple months, and then permanently next spring, all the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) will be fire and air signs (Aries, Gemini and Aquarius).

06/23/2025

We are on the cusp of a two-week period that invites us to feel better. Hard to imagine, I know, but bear with me. On Wednesday, June 25th the Sun, Moon and Jupiter come together in loyal, protective, nurturing, and family-oriented cancer. Jupiter is the planet of optimism, of good fortune and expansion. When Jupiter contacts other planets, in this case the Sun, consciousness, and Moon, emotions, we feel hopeful, grateful, and emotionally wealthy. Jupiter is “exalted” or jubilant in Cancer and can remind all of us of happy events from the middle of 2013 to 2014. Twelve years ago, our entire coast to coast family gathered once in June to celebrate our youngest’s’ B Mitzvah, and again in November to celebrate my long-awaited marriage to Mindy. True blessings from Jupiter in cancer.

New Moons are a time to plant seeds, to set intentions, and let go of what’s complete. The zodiac sign of cancer, from June 21-July 21, in the northern hemisphere corresponds with high summer, following the longest day of the year, summer solstice. We are in a cosmic time of rich fertility and greater potential for emotional connections; a time of long summer days, tending the garden, going to the farmer’s market and gathering with chosen family. Even though we’re in the midst of tragic wars, political polarization, strife and uncertainty, take a moment during the last week of June to enjoy your life and spend time with those you love. The Sun, Moon and Jupiter all sextile pragmatic Mars in Virgo, which supports getting things done as well.

While the Sun and Moon are astrologically supported, Saturn and Neptune are conjunct in very early Aries, making a square or stressful aspect to the luminaries. Saturn can ground and limit our good feelings, while Neptune will often envelope us a dreamy haze. We may find setbacks, confusion and frustrations during the last week of June as well.

On July 8, 2025, Uranus will make its initial entrance into Gemini for the first time in 84 years. It will stay in Gemini until November 9th when it retrogrades, and then returns to Gemini April 27, 2026, staying there until August 2032. It is possible that some of the financial uncertainty happening now as Uranus leaves Ta**us representing finances, will even out by summer 2026. During this seven-year period we can expect to see radical innovations in all forms of communication, transportation, AI and technology.

If you were born with planets in early degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces you are most likely to experience exciting and unforeseen changes in the next couple of years. On a personal level Uranus is known as the planet of break-up, break-down and break through. This planet can bring changes that in the moment, are unsettling and even unwanted, but after the dust settles people tend to feel more authentic along with a sense of more personal freedom.
