Life of a Provider
“Oh, I have to go,” her husband said as I started the pelvic exam on my patient.
“I am ok if you stay in here. I have no problem with you in the room,” I said politely.
He shook his head and walked out!
“He only wants to be there for the good time,” his wife commented. And, we had a good laugh! Everyday there is laughter in what I do! I am fortunate to meet great people in my practice!

As a gynecologist, I do not mind if my patient’s spouse wants to be present for pelvic exams. It may help ease the discomfort of my patients.

The life of a Provider
“Congratulations! You are pregnant!” She missed her period by one day.
“How did that happen?” She exclaimed in disbelief.
“Well, you had s*x,” I responded. She bursted out laughing! She had multiple miscarriages and came to see me for help. I explained that there are no proven studies but I would like her to abstain from s*x for 10 weeks of pregnancy.
“Oh no! That will be trouble with my husband,” she shook her head.
“Do you want me to write a letter to your husband, ‘no s*x for 2 more months.’”
“If you do then write for 6 months,” she smiled. “I don’t like s*x.”
“Then, he will surely get a second wife,” I responded. She shook her head and we laughed again.

Man or Woman????
A seven-years-old boy came to my office the other day! He was a new patient with a skin condition. I entered the room with my usual attire—blue scrubs, face mask and gloves!
“Are you Dr Yang?” he inquired.
“Yes, I am!”
“Are you a man or a woman?” he questioned and stared, as his mother tugged on his arm to quiet. She was a bit embarrassed at his inquisition.
“Well, what do you think?” I smiled.
“You look like a man but talk like a woman. I am confused,” he replied.
“I can be a man or a woman! What do you want me to be?” I answered! And, we all laughed! Kids—they are so innocent and honest! I love my little people!
