Our cemetery offers you or your loved one a very personal choice in which to be memorialized, whether traditional burial or cremation burial.

Elmhurst Cemetery was established in 1858, the very same year Minnesota became a state. Once lined with 760 elm trees, the cemetery has been a witness to generations of history.

As one of St. Paul’s oldest cemeteries, Elmhurst stands alongside Oakland and Calvary Cemeteries in honoring the legacy of Minnesota’s earliest families and pioneers.

Today, we pause in solemn remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. On this day, our nation was forever changed, and we honor the memory of the men, women, and children who never came home.

At Elmhurst Cemetery, we are reminded daily of the importance of remembrance of carrying forward the stories and legacies of those who came before us. Just as we care for the resting places of loved ones here, we also hold space in our hearts for those who were taken from us that tragic day.

May we never forget their lives, their courage, and the unity that carried us forward in the days that followed.

🌼 Meet the “New Gardeners” at Elmhurst!

This summer, we’re excited to welcome Rob Krueger and Eric Grube as the newest caretakers of beauty here at Elmhurst Cemetery. By day, Rob and Eric are professors at Concordia University, St. Paul, Rob teaches math and Eric teaches accounting—but in their free time, they’ve stepped in with green thumbs and big hearts to help our grounds flourish.

The stunning flowers gracing the cemetery were purchased by Rob through the Ramsey County Correctional Facilities’ annual plant sale, supporting a meaningful community initiative while adding color and life to our sacred spaces.

We’re grateful for their dedication and the thoughtful care they’re bringing to Elmhurst.

🌿 Patti Grube to Elmhurst Cemetery! 🌿

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to the newest member of our Elmhurst Cemetery team, Patti Grube! Patti joined us at the front desk earlier this year and brings a wealth of experience in accounting and finance, including 18 years at Capella University in Financial Planning and Analysis. While the cemetery world is new to her, she’s embraced the role with curiosity, heart, and a sense of humor!

Patti has quickly become a vital part of our office team—solving daily “Scooby-Doo mysteries” and enjoying the many interesting stories that come through our doors. She’s also discovered just how many people stop by the office each day!

Outside of work, Patti enjoys hiking, quilting, and spending time with her husband and four adventurous kids. She recently picked up playing 500 with friends, and yes—she’s never owned a car with an automatic transmission!

We're so lucky to have Patti’s warmth, insight, and can-do spirit at Elmhurst. Welcome, Patti we’re glad you’re here!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. At Elmhurst Cemetery, we are humbled to be the resting place of many of these heroes, and individuals whose courage, sacrifice, and commitment to freedom will never be forgotten.

As we walk among the rows of markers and memorials, we are reminded that each name represents a story of valor and a legacy that endures. On this Memorial Day, we offer our deepest gratitude to those who served, and to the families who have borne the cost of our nation’s freedom.

May their memory live on in our hearts, and may we strive to live lives worthy of their sacrifice.

Today, we extend our heartfelt to the wonderful volunteers from Crown of Life Church & School who came out to Elmhurst Cemetery to honor our veterans. With care and respect, they placed American flags on each veteran’s gravesite, ensuring that their service and sacrifice are remembered. Your kindness and dedication mean so much, thank you for helping us keep their memory alive this .
