For friends & family outside of Minnesota who want to help, thank you. 💛
Many people here are in survival mode right now. Daily life is focused on safety, food, staying alert, and caring for our communities.
Because of that, I want to gently share a boundary:
Please don’t rely on people in MN to explain, summarize, or process what’s happening here.
In addition, be thoughtful about what you share with us. Ask first if you can send us something you really love! Articles, long form content, philosophical debates about what's happening, and videos, even well-intended, can feel overwhelming right now.
AND WE NEED YOU!!!
A suggestion: expressing your loving care is fabulous. A simple “sending love” or “I see you” is like air right now for most people. Reminders that we aren’t going through this alone are helpful.
Many of us are not ok, and it's ok to assume that. But connection is important, so if you can balance that as the priority, that’s awesome.
If you want to help in ways that truly matter:
✔️ Donate to vetted, local organizations doing direct work
– Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
https://www.ilcm.org
– MIRAC (Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee)
https://www.miracmn.com
– COPAL MN
https://copalmn.org
– Unidos MN / Monarca
https://monarcamn.org
(These groups already know where support is needed most.)
✔️ Stay informed without asking Minnesotans to carry that load
Reliable coverage:
– Associated Press
– The Guardian (U.S. coverage)
– Local MN nonprofit coalitions and legal orgs
✔️ Share resources, not hot takes
Before sending content, please ask if it’s wanted. Unvetted videos, viral posts, or heavy analysis can add stress rather than support.
Books for deeper understanding (especially for those outside MN):
– "Mutual Aid" by Dean Spade
– "Emergent Strategy" by Adrienne Maree Brown
– "Freedom Is a Constant Struggle" by Angela Y. Davis
Your care is felt. The most loving thing right now is respecting bandwidth, supporting trusted organizations, and letting people here focus on staying safe and grounded. Thank you for showing up thoughtfully. 💛
