Maria and Bob’s Story: Hope that Spans Generations!
My name is Maria, and it’s been nearly 50 years since I first walked through the doors of what was then Northside Pregnancy Options, what you now know as Abria. I was just 15, newly pregnant, and terrified.
Instead of anger, my mom showed me love and brought me here. That first visit gave me more than a pregnancy test. It gave me hope. The women at Northside didn’t see me as a statistic or a mistake. They saw me, a scared young girl who needed kindness, guidance, and support.
Abria gave Bob and I practical help, baby clothes, connections to medical care, and encouragement when we felt overwhelmed. But more than anything, Abria reminded me that I was not alone.
Bob and I raised our baby together. It wasn’t easy. We were young, broke, and learning as we went. But little by little, we made it through. Our son grew into a man with strength and steady faith. He became the first of seven children. Now, decades later, I see not only my children but grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren thriving.
When Bob and I think about those early days, we realize how much Abria shaped the path our lives took. Their compassion didn’t just change our story, it changed generations of our family.
