🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀
Today is often filled with fun, celebration, and a bit of extra green — but it can also be a great reminder to check in with ourselves and with others. Just like a four‑leaf clover, mental well‑being has many parts: connection, support, balance, and hope.

đź’š Take a moment today to:
• Check in on a friend or loved one
• Practice a small act of self‑care
• Step outside and enjoy a breath of fresh air
• Remind yourself that it’s okay to ask for help

May your day be filled with kindness, connection, and a little extra luck. You’re not alone — and support is always within reach.

Here are a few powerful facts about women in mental health today:

📊 Women make up more than 70% of the U.S. therapist workforce, representing the majority of professionals providing direct mental‑health care across the country.

📊 In psychology, women now represent 58% of practitioners, continuing to grow their presence across research, clinical practice, and academia.

📊 Social work remains one of the most female‑led professions, with women holding the majority of licenses nationwide, according to recent national workforce surveys.

These numbers aren’t just statistics — they reflect the compassion, expertise, and leadership women bring to behavioral health every day.

From trailblazers in research and advocacy to clinicians and community supports on the front lines, women continue to drive innovation, expand access to care, and champion equity in mental health.

To all the women advancing healing and hope in our communities: we see you, we celebrate you, and we honor the impact you make.

Women have long been at the forefront of mental health and human‑services work—supporting healing, challenging inequities, and strengthening communities.

This month, we recognize the women past and present whose dedication continues to shape the way we understand trauma, resilience, identity, and care.

Thank you for the compassion, expertise, and advocacy you bring to this field.

Brigitte and Kelli had a great time representing Hoffmann at Minnesota State University, Mankato’s new Employer in Residence program last week!

They tabled outside the Career Development Center, connecting with students, sharing insights about the meaningful work we do, and highlighting the employment opportunities available at Hoffmann.

This program offered a fantastic opportunity to meet future healthcare professionals and support students as they explore career pathways in our field.

We’re excited to continue building these connections and investing in the next generation of healthcare talent!

This week, we’re honoring influential Black psychologists, social workers, and change‑makers whose work continues to shape how we understand trauma, resilience, racial identity, and healing.

Mamie Phipps Clark: A pioneering psychologist whose famous “doll studies” revealed the damaging psychological effects of segregation on Black children. Her research became foundational evidence in Brown v. Board of Education, and she co‑founded the Northside Center for Child Development to provide critical mental‑health support for children and families of color.

Francis Cecil Sumner: Often called the “Father of Black Psychology,” Sumner was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. He was a powerful advocate for education reform and helped build pathways for Black scholars in psychology at a time when opportunities were extremely limited. His work laid the academic foundation for generations of Black psychologists who followed.

Joy DeGruy: A social worker, educator, and researcher best known for developing Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (PTSS)—a framework exploring the multigenerational effects of historical trauma and systemic oppression. Her work calls us to center cultural responsiveness and trauma‑informed approaches in mental‑health care.

Howard Stevenson: A leading psychologist focused on racial literacy, Stevenson’s work equips youth and families with tools to navigate racial stress and trauma. His research emphasizes empowering young people to manage racial encounters with confidence, emotional regulation, and self‑affirmation.

Ida B. Wells: A journalist, educator, and fearless civil‑rights activist, Wells led one of the earliest and most impactful anti‑lynching campaigns through investigative reporting and data‑driven truth‑telling. She co‑founded the NAACP and fought relentlessly for racial and gender justice.

As an agency committed to growth, equity, and healing, we honor the legacy of these leaders—and the ongoing work of Black professionals in psychology and social work today. Their contributions remind us that culturally responsive care isn’t optional — it’s essential.
