Happy New Year! 🎉
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Wishing you all health, happiness, and great things in the year ahead.

This past year was filled with meaningful connections and growth, for which I’m truly grateful. As we look ahead to 2026, I’m excited to continue sharing valuable information and raising awareness around hearing health.

Best wishes from me—and my four-legged coworkers, Bandit and Molly. 🐾

Hearing loss can quietly pull people away from those special moments during the holidays. Many people start:

❎ Smiling and nodding instead of joining in
❎ Avoiding group conversations
❎ Feeling isolated even in a crowded room

It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are additional tips to utilize with your family and friends who may suffer with hearing loss!

❄️Before speaking, gently say their name, touch their arm, or move into their line of sight. This helps the brain prepare to listen — especially in noisy environments.
❄️Over-shouting can distort sound. Use normal volume, a steady pace, and clear articulation.
❄️Hands, cups, or scarves can block sound and lip cues. Good lighting + an unobstructed view makes a big difference.
❄️If they don't understand the first time, try saying it a different way. Different phrasing can be easier for the brain to process.
❄️Start with the subject: “We’re talking about the trip…” before adding specifics.
This helps the listener’s brain organize information more easily.

Holiday parties can be joyful but also loud... making it challenging if you or a loved one has hearing loss.

A few simple changes can make conversations easier for everyone:

👉 Turn down background noise
Lower the TV or music during mealtime so voices are easier to hear.

👉 Choose good lighting
Sitting in a well-lit area helps people see faces and read lips or expressions.

👉 Sit closer, face-to-face
Encourage loved ones with hearing loss to sit near the middle of the table or close to the people they talk with most.

👉 Take turns talking
Group chatter is hard even with good hearing. Taking turns and avoiding talking over each other helps everyone.

👉 Check in with your loved one
A simple “Can you hear me okay?” or “Is this seat better?” shows you care and opens the door to honest communication.

If you or someone you love is struggling to keep up during conversations, a hearing evaluation before the holidays can make a big difference. ❤️

“If I get hearing aids, will they work right away?”

Great question – and the honest answer is: your ears get help right away, but your brain needs time to adjust. 🧠

When someone first starts wearing hearing aids, everyday sounds can seem:
• Louder
• Clearer, but also “different”
• Sometimes a bit overwhelming at first

That’s because your brain is relearning how to process sounds it hasn’t heard clearly in a while. Over a few weeks, most people notice that:
✅ Speech becomes easier to follow
✅ Background sounds feel more natural
✅ Listening takes less effort and energy

That’s why waiting until the day before a big holiday party or special event is not ideal.

Getting your hearing tested and, if needed, starting with hearing aids now gives your brain time to adapt before big family gatherings. That means:
✨ Less stress
✨ More connection
✨ More energy for the moments that matter

Do any of these sound familiar?

🔸 The family says the TV is too loud
🔸 You struggle to follow conversations in restaurants
🔸 People “mumble” more than they used to
🔸 Phone calls are harder to understand

These are common signs of hearing loss – and they don’t have to be your “new normal.”

There’s still time to get your hearing checked before the holiday gatherings start. Send us a message or give us a call at 507-508-6951 and we’ll help you get started. 🎁

The holidays are just around the corner! 🎄

If you’ve been turning up the TV, asking people to repeat themselves, or feeling worn out after conversations… this is the year to finally check your hearing.

Hearing isn’t just about your ears – it’s about your brain. When hearing loss is untreated, your brain has to work overtime to fill in the gaps, which can lead to listening fatigue and frustration.

The sooner hearing loss is treated, the sooner your brain can start learning how to use the new sound from personalized devices. That way, by the time the holiday gatherings begin, conversations feel more natural instead of overwhelming.

✅ Step 1: Schedule a hearing evaluation
✅ Step 2: If hearing aids are recommended, give your brain a few weeks to adjust
✅ Step 3: Enjoy the laughter, stories, and holiday music you love 🎶

If you’d like to hear your best this holiday season, we’re here to help.

🍂Crisp Leaves = Crisp Hearing🍂
Can you hear the crunch of the leaves underfoot? That delicate rustle is a high-frequency sound — if you can hear it clearly, this is a sign of preserved high-frequency hearing which tends to decline with age or noise exposure.

If it’s been a while since your last hearing check, fall is the perfect time to tune in!
