Health Sciences students learning about multicultural health were able to hear from Dr. Rachel Thompson, DC, CAC at Back in Balance Health and Wellness PLLC to gain a better understanding of the use of complementary and alternative medicine!
Students learned about the use of CAM modalities such as chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, massage therapy, stretching, cupping, Graston, StemWave therapy, and other treatment options in the holistic care of patients for a multitude of ailments and conditions. This informative discussion allowed students to better understand the use of complementary and alternative medicine modalities for a variety of patients, how it can fit together with allopathic or conventional medicine models to provide person-centered care and treatment, how to actively listen to patients with a curious mind to explore root causes of symptoms, and to "always have your empathy turned on" in every patient interaction.
