Congrats to all plastic surgeons across the country who just finished their last marathon exam weekend.

The oral board exam is the final exam all plastic surgeons must pass in order to become board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. It’s the only board showing proof that your plastic surgeon is everything that Instagram says he/she is.

The exam is a multi-day exam in a hotel where your surgical cases are analyzed by a board of experts in front of you while you answer questions. Imagine combining and into one weekend of a testing experience!

Congratulations to your hard work and keeping plastic surgery great.

Many “cosmetic surgeons” around the 🌎 will never be offered the opportunity to take this exam. You earned your opportunity.

For the many, many surgeons I helped prepare for this big day, I hope you will remember the feeling of passing this final final end all be all exam and choose to give back to the next generation of plastic surgeons. The best gift is to offer your guidance and wisdom to those still in training and preparing for their big day ahead.

The most challenging today is a deprojection rhinoplasty on a patient with thick skin, large tip cartilages that are also weak.

Rebuilding the engine from the inside and then making the “hood of the nose” show off the inside work 🚙 👃

I routinely will have patients see general dermatology to be put on low dose Accutane early in the healing phase to help with the shrink wrap effect of the nasal tip skin if it is moderate thickness, thick or thicc thicc! 😂
