Given the current political climate, this feels important to say:
Childhood sexual abuse doesn’t just live in the past, it shapes the nervous system, relationships, self-worth, and a person’s sense of safety for years to come.
And when survivors watch their abusers go on untouched, it can deepen feelings of powerlessness, shame, anger, and injustice.

So let this be a reminder:
Believe survivors.
Stop minimizing “old” trauma.
Break the silence.
Hold individuals and systems accountable.
Silence protects abusers.
Accountability protects children.

When we stop treating anxiety like an enemy and start seeing it as a messenger, it loses its power. It becomes information instead of a threat.
You can feel anxious and still be safe.
You don’t have to fight your nervous system to heal.

As a therapist, I want to speak directly to men: struggling does not mean you are weak or broken. Many men are taught to carry pain alone and that isolation can be deadly. You do not have to face this by yourself.

Sounds of a Session
Some days I wake up already tired.
I hide behind humor.
I feel alone even in a full room.
The quiet at night feels loud without her.
Urges come and go.
Sitting with myself is still hard.
Feeling okay feels unfamiliar.
I’m learning to respond instead of react.
Progress is uneven, but it’s real.
Today didn’t break me.
Still here.

These are some of the real, raw thoughts my clients brought into therapy this week, the highs, the lows, the struggles, and the hope.

Post-holiday blues + winter can feel heavy
If you’re feeling it, you’re not alone.

But keep in mind Spring is in just 74 days
And we’ve already gained 40 minutes of daylight back

Easy ways to combat the inevitable slump:
Spend time outside
Move your body in any way that feels good
Keep a routine
Stay connected with people that feel like sunshine

And most importantly, be gentle with yourself.
Brighter days are coming 😎
