🦶 Ultimate Question Everyone's Been Asking!!

⁉️ Toe shoes, minimalist shoes, wide toe boxes, toe spacers, chacos
Where to even start?

🏃‍♂️ Overall, the answer is: Do whatever you want...

👟 Tight shoes can lead to possible foot pain and abnormalities with injuries more likely to occur higher up.

🩴Barefoot training can help with foot freedom, strength, and barefoot balance but can fatigue the muscles of the foot and ankle and Injuries more likely to occur lower down.

Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review from a 5-star experience!!!

Google reviews not only help practices grow and essentially become a form of a free tip for the therapist, but allows future patients to find the best fit PT for them.

🌞🏝 With Spring beginning to fade and Summer season already on it's way, theres some habits to be aware of, especially as a Floridian....

1. Summer= Cutting Season

💪 Yes we all want to look good and chisseled for going to the beach. And we all hear the "It's cutting season". But be aware, if you never had a bulking season, is it really still considered a cutting season?
Not stopping you from looking lean for Show and Tell on Treasure Island but be mindful that maybe just getting stronger, working towards your health goals will help you look your best on the beach.

2. It's Too Hot

🔥 Yes, it can be that way. Running long distances outside in peak July truly sucks. But there are still either other places to train or styles to switch up on hot days, and alternate with cooler, rainy days. Sunrise and Sunset runs just hit different anyway.

3. Summer Vacation Stops Goals

✈️ Continuing your fitness/wellness goals while on vacation can be tough.... but never impossible. If you booked an expensive all inclusive, chances are you will never eat your moneys worth. Plan your own time before you start your trip and you'll likely enjoy the trip even more knowing you put in some work and can play all the rest of the time!

⁉️ Let me know some of your goals this Summer in the comments!!

✅ Everyone has their preferred way of marketing their skills and practice for other potential patients to see.

🔑 Really the key to it is finding what works the best for you, and the only way to find that is trial and error.

💸 Yes that does cost money, but that's the investment in learning and growing. For example I have spent a lot of money on Google ads to fund the never ending spam call industry to find out, Google ads were just not going to work for me.

🫅 No matter what way you find effective, word of mouth is stronger than any other method with no argument.

⭐ Also, Google reviews are very effective and become a large deciding factor for patients in choosing you for their care.

⁉️ Have a method you like that works for you, let me know in the comments!!

📆 Reminder: Live your life a bit! Doesn't mean to grind hard now till you die, but to go out and be active, experience things, and most of all.... don't let these stats be a ticking clock that these events are inevitable.

Stats are stats, based on the averages for people of that age. And as you guessed it, the average person towards that age has stopped taking care of their health. Whether it be laziness, stress, having children, or socioeconomic factors, most people tend to see these declines by their 60s-70s.

⁉️ How do we stop this? Go against the norm. Get out there, live your life, stay active as something as necessary as brushing your teeth every day, and most of all invest in your health now!

⁉️ Do we take your insurance?

Likely not, the only insurance we are currently in network with is traditional Medicare.

Meaning: All other patients come to see us to get better, not because we are in network.

They still have insurance yes, and they often times are eligible to get reimbursed!! But they've tried their in network route and unfortunately it was not worth the free services.

For something to not be worth receiving even if it's free has got to be disheartening to PT.

💸 This is not to be taken as a message to never use your insurance. By all means, you spend a lot of money on it, I would use it!
But the amount of patients i heard say they want to find a clinic that takes their insurance and end up never receiving treatment is discouraging, or even worse, having a bad experience at a clinic and giving up entirely.

😮‍💨 Don't let this be you! If money is a concern, we always recommend at least doing 1 single session to at least show what the problem is and the proper solution. The choice to continue or try on your own is 100% your choice.

🏃‍♂️ Oh the joys of having an injury just as you have a race coming up.

With a short amount of time, it can be hard to bounce back quick enough. But this race was happening one way or another, and following my hands-on manual treatment, this is what the rest of our rehab session looked like.

⁉️Interested in doing the same (minus the getting injured first part), let me know in the comments!

Haven't done one of my "rants" in a while, so here are my latest thoughts!

Overall, we as physical therapists end up being a lot of patient's first line of care and thus become the primary source of medical advice and information (within our scope of practice). We also tend to spend 1 full hour multiple times per week together which opens up a lot more time to ask questions and bring up concerns versus 5-20 minutes with a physician once or twice per year. Not to say all physicians only spend a few shrt minutes with every patient, but we end up having the opportunity to see them longer and more frequent.

Why then are we still asking for permission to do our jobs?

That is all! If you agree or disagree, let me know in the comments!

🦴 Some of the most common injuries I come across people assuming they have that end up not being the injury.

🤕 Keep in mind, it's not always this way as these injuries are very common and end up being positive cases, but they also tend to be loosely diagnosed.

❓Feel like you might have one of these injuries but never confirmed? Let me know in the comments!

👨‍⚕️"Stop squatting, it's bad for your knees"

🏋‍♂️I'm sure plenty of us have heard this or other phrases to limit things that are quite essential in every day life.

Movement patterns may require more so modification rather than elimination!
