What to say about this week? Amazing. A story of a God week is always nourishing for the soul. Monday and Tuesday- we were up in Pajales. We were blessed by our house parents with an abundance of good home cooking. Then for our journey, guisguil, mandarina.limones, guisguilitos, limones, anona, perona, and aguacates. Off we headed to our home in Rincon Grande with full hearts. And I should mention we were blessed by some delicious gifts from our patients there! Juices, fruits, and veggies! On our way out of town, we came upon a man who had his wheel fall off his truck- he and his 7-year old son did not have enough manpower to fix it- Mario and I stayed, loaning them a second jack and I walked aways down the road to borrow a third jack. About 90 minutes later he was ready to go! He offered to bless us with an entire branch of bananas- we passed, but were super grateful!
We had Wednesday booked to take a patient to a far clinic for evaluation. Well, we got back late for clinic as a result of tourism traffic - but our patients that night brought us mole, veggies, and amazing burritos (which were awesome when we got in at 10pm from clinic)! Next day, another family had an appointment we arranged to have a PT evaluation and assessment for a special wheelchair device to keep them growing strong. We were rerouted and passed by the home of a patient and they were sorting strawberries- 🍓 I wanted to buy some, but they ended up pouring 5 pounds in a bag and wishing us a great day! We then had clinic and we were again blessed! Finally Friday- zucchini’s, guisguil, love, laughter, a good friend brought 15 blankets for our blanket drive, oh and another brought donuts for Mario and I.
Then something extremely special happened. One of the beautiful women came to the clinic right as I was closing. She said she felt a need to prepare a meal for us. I called Mario to come early to the clinic. She prepared steak, longaniza, avocado, chirmol, steamed potatoes stuffed with cheese, fresh tortillas, and even snacks for our car ride home to our other house. Literally- she was the hands and feet of Jesus. He said, come sit here an rest, and he used her to say it to us. We serve, running 90 mph, and often not realizing our fatigue because there is a never-ending list of ‘to-do’s’. This meal was so special. Thank you for loving us as we love you! Finally, we stopped at our favorite vendor in Antigua and he blessed me with a matching shirt to Mario! God- you never cease to amaze me! We stand in awe. Bendita salud!
