From Dr. Gupta’s CNN Desk email this morning. A testimony on how quickly your body repairs and heals after you stop smoking.
I smoked ci******es for 31 years -- from 13 years old until 44 years old. I smoked over a pack a day & never missed a day. I just couldn't stop. I was always short of breath & figured I would always smoke. I never exercised. I lived on sugar & coffee. Something got in my head on New Year's eve 2004 & I had my last cigarette at 11:59 p.m. 2004. That was 15 years ago," he wrote.
And his story keeps getting better. Dan is now exercising consistently and is even opening his own personal training studio. I think Dan says it best: "I am a prime example that even if you have made very poor choices in life, it's NEVER too late to turn things around."
As we see the rate of cancer deaths drop in our country, a big part of that has been the decline of lung cancer. Dan, taking this step to stop smoking and improve your health was one of the most important things you could have done for yourself.
