Today, I stand in solidarity with businesses across the country that closed in support of the ICE OUT movement.
I am deeply moved by the dedication of activists who show up in freezing temperatures, who stand up to bullies, who document the truth with their phones, and who hold the line together in solidarity—calling for people to be treated with dignity, respect, and humanity.
As a small business owner and massage therapist, I made the intentional choice to stay open today. For me, this is the most authentic way I can support this movement.
My purpose is to bring healing and emotional regulation through bodywork, and that work is deeply needed right now. The trauma of anti-immigrant violence, dehumanizing rhetoric, and systemic harm lives in our bodies. What we are witnessing today feels especially heavy because it is happening here, at home. But this kind of violence has been unfolding for a long time in places like Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, Iran, and beyond. None of those places are less important. When it’s in your own country, it simply asks more of you.
We can share posts. We can donate. And those things matter. But I keep asking myself: what else can I do with what I have to offer?
So I return to my purpose. I support people through trauma-informed massage, stress relief, and nervous system regulation. I help people find rest and release stress, fear, grief, and emotional trauma held in their bodies. Today, that felt like necessary work.
Each of us has a role to play—using our natural gifts to care for one another. Supporting a struggling neighbor. Sharing a meal. Offering kindness. These things may feel small, but together they create something powerful and moving.
Today, I am pledging to donate a portion of my proceeds to organizations supporting this movement.
Don’t let hate take up space in you. Do good. Be good. And keep showing up in the ways you can. 💗
