A Vintage Christmas at Inspired Living at Ivy Ridge was truly magical. From sweet moments with Santa to Christmas card making, letters to Santa, and beautiful handmade ornaments, the joy was felt in every corner. Everyone enjoyed “Grandma’s kitchen” inspired pastries, a cozy hot cocoa bar, and our special apple cider. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a heartwarming holiday celebration.

Bright lights, loud noises, and crowded rooms may cause confusion, anxiety, or fatigue. It’s important to notice the signs of overstimulation, and help your loved one stay calm.

If you notice restlessness, irritability, or a sudden desire to leave the room, help your loved one feel comfortable by providing quiet spaces, or building quiet breaks into the day!

It can also help to keep gatherings small, and surroundings familiar. Avoid overstimulation by focusing on peaceful, one-on-one moments. ✨

If you’re spending time with a loved one with dementia this holiday season, there are lots of dementia-friendly holiday activities to get you in the holiday spirit. 🎄

You can:
💫 Listen to classic holiday music, create a scent station to spark holiday memories, or make touch-based ornaments together out of soft materials like felt!

🖼️Make paper snowflakes or simple garlands, decorate a small table-top tree, or paint or color holiday-themed pages together, making sure to use large-print coloring sheets and bold, cheerful colors.

🌟Watch gentle holiday movies or shows, take a drive to see the lights (as long as it’s brief and low-pressure), or sip warm cocoa together, paired with a familiar Christmas carol for an extra cozy moment!
