Functional Tests for PCOS
✨ 1.Hormone Panel- This includes measuring hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Elevated testosterone and LH levels are often associated with PCOS.
✨ 2.Insulin & Glucose Testing- Assessing insulin resistance and glucose levels is crucial, as many women with PCOS have insulin resistance, which can lead to metabolic issues like Type 2 diabetes
✨ 3.DHEA-S- (Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate) is a hormone that can be elevated in PCOS. It's produced by the adrenal glands and can contribute to elevated androgens (male hormones) in women.
✨ 4.Inflammatory Markers- High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and other inflammatory markers may be tested to assess systemic inflammation, which can be associated with PCOS and its complications.
✨ 5.Thyroid Funtion Tests- Hypothyroidism and PCOS can have overlapping symptoms. Thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4) can help rule out or identify thyroid issues.
✨ 6. SHBG- S*x Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG): This protein binds to hormones like testosterone and estrogen, affecting their availability. Low SHBG levels can contribute to hormonal imbalances seen in PCOS.
✨ 7.Nutritional Deficiency- Deficiencies in nutrients like vitamin D, magnesium, and zinc, which can impact PCOS and overall health.
✨ 8. Stool Analysis- Gut health is increasingly recognized as influencing hormonal balance. This test can assess gut microbiota, digestion, and inflammation.
✨ 9.Food Sensitivity Testing- Consider testing for food sensitivities, as inflammation triggered by certain foods might exacerbate PCOS symptoms.
