April 10 is National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day. reminds us about the importance of investing in young people’s health and education. School-based allows youth to learn about HIV prevention and care.

• In the US, 20% of new diagnoses in 2020 were among young people aged 13-24.

• Getting tested for HIV is important for prevention since only 6% of high school students have ever been tested for HIV.

February 7 is National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD).
This observance is a day to acknowledge how HIV disproportionately affects Black people.

Black communities have made great progress in reducing HIV. Yet racism, discrimination, and mistrust in the health care system may affect whether Black people seek or receive HIV prevention services. These issues may also reduce the likelihood of engaging in HIV treatment and care. NBHAAD is an opportunity to increase HIV education, testing, community involvement, and treatment among Black communities. (HIV.gov)

“There is no American history without African American history.”

Every February, the US honors, the contributions and sacrifices of African-Americans, who have helped shape the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich, cultural heritage, triumphs, and adversities that are an indelible part of our country’s history.
