Celebrate the 4th of July in a Patriotic Fashion
The public is invited to a Patriotic 4th of July event on Monday, July 4th at 11:00 a. m. Participants can either join the Ste. Genevieve colonial militia group and the VFW Post 2210 color bearers at the Audubonβs parking lot at 10:45 a.m. as they march up Merchant Street to the Courthouse or just be at the Courthouse by 11 a. m.
Bring a flag and help show Ste. Genevieveβs patriotism.
The event will include a recitation of the pledge of allegiance and singing of the Star-Spangled Banner by Lilly Adams followed by an invocation and a welcome by Mayor Paul Hassler. A brief history of events leading up the 1776 Declaration will be presented as well as parts of this most important American document.
The VFW honor guard and the Ste. Genevieve colonial militia will fire salutes in honor of the day. The contributions of veterans and their families will be recognized followed by singing of America the Beautiful by Lilly Adams. The event concludes with retirement of the colors by the VFW honor guard.
In the event of rain, the event will be held indoors at the Church of Ste. Genevieve beginning at 11:00 a. m.
