I wanted to go ahead and share our team's availability with you. Over the next few weeks, I will be introducing the amazing new members of our team to you! (I am so excited- you are gonna love these women!) If you'd like a sneak peak, go ahead and book a discovery call and I will tell you all about them. 😉

Some things to know about us...

We didn't get into birth and postpartum doula work for the “business” or money. We each stepped into birth work because we have a calling to serve women in the most vulnerable time of their entire lives.

Not to necessarily teach about what to expect in labor and breath work, but to be with you throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and build a relationship, a friendship if you will.

To answer all the “is this normal” questions and to remind you that God quite literally created you to do exactly what you’re doing — bring life into this world and nurture it.

To wipe the your face, braid your hair, rub your feet, hold your throw up bowl, breathe WITH you, maybe even cry with you, and help you find your voice when it gets a little shaky.

To sit with you in the late night hours as you wipe away the postpartum tears as you learn to feed your baby. To help you navigate all the beautiful, but challenging moments in postpartum and newborn life. We want you to know that you are not alone.

If you’re pregnant or hoping to be pregnant this year and curious about doula support, don’t hesitate to reach out. I'd love to chat about what support for your unique journey could look like!

💛 BORN MOTHERHOOD REFERRAL PROGRAM 💛

Okay friends...we need your help to spread the word!

If we supported your birth and you ever thought,
“Every mama deserves this kind of support…”

OR

If you have been cheering us on from the sidelines thinking, "Wow, I wish I had this kind of support for my birth and postpartum journey..."

This is your moment.

We’re officially launching our Born Motherhood Referral Program — and it’s open to clients, friends, family, and all of our amazing supporters. 🤍

Here’s how it works:

✨ When you refer someone and she books a doula package with us:
• She receives $50 off her package
• Your name is entered into our quarterly drawing

And the winner chooses:
💆‍♀️ A FREE massage
OR
💵 $100 cash

And here’s the best part —
There’s no limit.

Every successful referral = one entry.
Three referrals? Three entries.
Five referrals? Five entries. 👏🏼

The only thing we ask is that your friend mentions your name when she books so we can make sure you get credit.

Motherhood is too important to do alone!

If you know someone who’s pregnant, trying, or even just thinking about starting a family — send her our way.

Let’s build strong families together. 🤍

Tag her. Text her. Screenshot this.

Thank you for being part of this community!!

💙 National Cesarean Section Day 💙

Today we honor cesarean births—and the families who walk this path with courage, love, and quiet strength. C-sections save lives. They bring babies safely into waiting arms. And they matter.

We see you, mama.
Whether your cesarean was planned, unexpected, or happened in a moment that still feels tender—your birth is real. Your body did something extraordinary. Your story deserves to be honored.

C-section recovery is sacred, demanding work. Healing from major surgery while learning your baby, navigating hormones, and stepping into motherhood all at once requires deep care, patience, and support.

And we see you, dads and partners, too.
So often after a cesarean, you become the bridge—holding your baby, advocating, learning care routines, and caring for mom around the clock. It’s beautiful and exhausting. You carry a lot, and you deserve support as well.

This image captures what we believe so deeply in:
✨ Dad bonding with baby
✨ Mom being cared for and protected
✨ No one doing this alone

This is where doula support matters—before birth, during surgery (yes, doulas are now allowed in the OR in Virginia), and especially in the early postpartum days. Doulas support healing, bonding, rest, feeding, and emotional processing so the whole family can settle into this new beginning with care and dignity.

Today, we celebrate cesarean mamas and dads!
If you feel comfortable, we’d love to honor you—share your C-section photos or stories in the comments or tag us so we can celebrate your journey. 💙

✨ 2025 at Born Motherhood — A Year of Birth, Growth & Gratitude ✨

As we close out 2025, our hearts are so full.

This year, Born Motherhood had the honor of welcoming 52 precious babies into the world—52 families who trusted us with some of their most sacred, vulnerable, and powerful moments. What a gift.

We also had the privilege of supporting 10 families through postpartum, walking alongside them in those tender early weeks of rest, recovery, and adjustment.

Beyond one-on-one support, 135 parents joined us in our birth and breastfeeding classes, showing up ready to learn, prepare, and advocate for themselves and their babies. Watching confidence grow before our eyes is one of the greatest joys of this work.

We also held mom's day out events and enjoyed connecting and doing life together- these moments with you are dear to our hearts!

None of this would be possible without our incredible doula team.
💛 Ryan and Kate—your compassion, skill, steadiness, and heart for families are truly something special. I am endlessly grateful for the way you serve with excellence and care.

To every family who invited us into their story—thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for opening your homes and hearts, and for allowing us to support you during such meaningful seasons.

And to our village—our partners, collaborators, volunteers, educators, and community supporters—thank you for helping us serve families well. Born Motherhood exists because of community, and we are so grateful for each of you.

Here’s to all that 2025 held… and to the families, babies, and beautiful work still ahead in 2026 🤍

With so much gratitude,
Ayla

Does flu season have you freaked-out?

Breastmilk is a living fluid! It adapts perfectly for your unique baby and their ever-changing needs. How cool is that?!

If you are concerned about your baby picking up germs during flu season, be sure to give them extra kisses- your body will pick up on any germs they have been exposed to and your breastmilk will adapt to prevent and fight off illness.

Are you sick and worried about breastfeeding your baby? Don't be- your body will make super-powered breastmilk to protect and heal your baby from the inside out. God's design for our bodies and babies is intentional and perfect!

✨ Breastmilk is a living, responsive fluid — and it’s one of the most remarkable designs in the human body. ✨

Unlike formula, breastmilk isn’t static or one-size-fits-all. It is biologically alive, constantly changing based on your baby, your environment, and even exposure to illness. From the very first drops of colostrum to milk for a growing toddler, your body is actively responding in real time — adjusting nutrients, immune factors, and protective components to meet your baby’s exact needs. Science is now confirming what many mothers have intuitively known for generations: breastmilk is intelligent, adaptive, and powerfully protective.

🧬 Science backs this up:
Breast milk contains antibodies, immune cells, hormones, enzymes, and bioactive compounds that support your baby’s developing immune system and help protect against infection. These components don’t just exist — they respond and adapt as your baby grows and encounters the world.
🔗 NIH review: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11659933/

💛 Immune protection that evolves with your baby
Breast milk is rich in secretory IgA, lactoferrin, oligosaccharides, and living immune cells that coat your baby’s gut and respiratory tract, helping prevent bacteria and viruses from attaching and causing illness. These protective factors remain present throughout breastfeeding — not just in the newborn stage.
🔗 American Academy of Pediatrics:
https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/breastfeeding/Pages/Breastfeeding-Benefits-Your-Babys-Immune-System.aspx

🤧 Concerned about flu or cold season?
When your baby is exposed to germs, your immune system recognizes those pathogens and produces specific antibodies — which are then delivered directly to your baby through breastmilk. Research shows immune activity and white blood cell levels in milk can increase when either parent or baby is sick.
🔗 Healthline overview:
https://www.healthline.com/health/childrens-health/does-breast-milk-change-when-baby-is-sick

🤱 Are you sick and worried about breastfeeding? Don’t be.
The CDC confirms that breastfeeding during illness (including flu) is safe and encouraged. Your milk does not make your baby sick — instead, it helps protect them and reduce illness severity by delivering targeted immune support.
🔗 CDC guidance:
https://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding-special-circumstances/hcp/illnesses-conditions/flu.html

🛡️ Real, measurable benefits:
✔ Reduced risk of ear infections, diarrhea, pneumonia, and respiratory illness
✔ Lower hospitalization rates for breastfed infants
✔ Immune protection even when the breastfeeding parent is ill
🔗 UNICEF summary:
https://www.unicef.org/nutrition/why-breastfeeding-best-babies

💖 The takeaway:
This isn’t just nutrition — it’s living medicine. God’s design for mothers and babies is intentional, intricate, and deeply protective. Every feeding is an act of nourishment and immune support, uniquely crafted for the baby in your arms.
