Looks who is finally blooming!! I will never underestimate an African Violet again..this lady stubbornly refuses to bloom until given precisely 4 drops of fertilizer, in room temp water, once a week with plenty of sun ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐ŸปPlants are an affordable (sometimes high maintenance ๐Ÿคช) way to brighten up the darkness of the winter months and serve as a perpetual reminder that spring is just around the corner ๐ŸŒฑ. To learn more about how to support your mood and immunity through the winter, please join me at our Embracing Winter Wellness event, deets on my page. Come through! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

By far the greatest reason people come to me as an ND is anxiety. The option they have largely been given by their doctor (and supported by their concerned loved ones) is psych meds. The option I give them is to explore this road map below together so we can figure out which of these factors is part of their picture. From there, we explore how to remove the obstacles to cure so they can realign and get some much deserved inner peace ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ. At first glance, maybe this chart looks scary. Itโ€™s a lot to take in. But in reality- how empowering is this? That you DO have control over your thoughts and emotions? That maybe by shifting your diet and spending more time in nature you could feel totally different? This is what naturopaths do. We walk beside you along your journey to health, whatever that happens to look like. And bonus: Iโ€™m pretty unconventional as far as ND goes, so thereโ€™s only a 50% chance Iโ€™m gonna make you give up dairy and gluten ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our Saturday morning lineup ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ. French press of gingerbread spiced coffee with nondairy hazelnut creamer for moi, salted caramel mocha with frothed creamer for my love (I know, I know ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป) If you look to the left you can see Pโ€™s leg in mid Saturday morning dance

In a long legacy of water bottles both big and small, Iโ€™m pretty sure this one is my favorite ever. 32oz, matte lilac, with this delightfully odd sticker we got in Amsterdam. Among all the daily impactful changes you can make in your life, carrying a reusable water bottle in an easy one. Itโ€™s a constant reminder to drink more water, especially when it falls out of your backpack and every person in the near vicinity turns around to see what the hell that noise was . In addition, the ๐ŸŒŽ is quite literally being suffocated in plastic. Carrying a reusable bottle is a quiet nod to the planet that we care ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

We had to learn all 1350 pages of this for our 3rd year Clinical Nutrition class. Joking ๐Ÿ˜‚. But this has remained one of my trusted resources now that Iโ€™m in practice. (Side note: imagine writing this beast??! ) Nutrition is the backbone of health, both physically and mentally. When I see a new patient, I always ask about diet, investigate possible food sensitivities, gauge the emotional connection to food (and ask about your p**p ๐Ÿ’ฉ). If you want me to bring Gabyโ€™s book to your first appointment so you can browse through it..I probably wonโ€™t because it weighs about 10lbs ๐Ÿ˜…

Trying something new for dinner tonight, using some of my key players:
1. Olive oil- buy good olive oil!! Something packaged in glass, preferably organic. The 365 one has a nice balanced flavor and is afforable(ish). Olive oil is a nutrition superhero- eat your plant fats!
2. Mushrooms- full of these compounds broadly knows as polyphenols that are REALLY GOOD for you. Anti-aging, cancer protective, immune system warriors. Some varieties are better than others but in general, eat your shrooms ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคซ
3. Coconut milk- we arenโ€™t a dairy free house but we are a dairy limited one. It makes people gassy/bloated/congested. Very damp inducing in the body. Coconut milk provides a velvety, creamy body to sauces and isnโ€™t from anyoneโ€™s udders ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ
4. Nutritional yeast- full of minerals, B vitamins, antioxidants. It looks like fish flakes, yes but it adds a complex cheesy flavor to food and packs a nutrition punch. Win win!
5. Fresh thyme- we all need more thyme right?? ๐Ÿ˜›. Thyme is antiviral, antibacterial, antitussive (fancy word for stopping a cough). Also as a chef, it makes you feel fancy and itโ€™s oddly satisfying scraping those tiny leaves off the stem into your simmering pan of goodness ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
