Trying something new for dinner tonight, using some of my key players:
1. Olive oil- buy good olive oil!! Something packaged in glass, preferably organic. The 365 one has a nice balanced flavor and is afforable(ish). Olive oil is a nutrition superhero- eat your plant fats!
2. Mushrooms- full of these compounds broadly knows as polyphenols that are REALLY GOOD for you. Anti-aging, cancer protective, immune system warriors. Some varieties are better than others but in general, eat your shrooms ๐๐คซ
3. Coconut milk- we arenโt a dairy free house but we are a dairy limited one. It makes people gassy/bloated/congested. Very damp inducing in the body. Coconut milk provides a velvety, creamy body to sauces and isnโt from anyoneโs udders ๐๐ผ
4. Nutritional yeast- full of minerals, B vitamins, antioxidants. It looks like fish flakes, yes but it adds a complex cheesy flavor to food and packs a nutrition punch. Win win!
5. Fresh thyme- we all need more thyme right?? ๐. Thyme is antiviral, antibacterial, antitussive (fancy word for stopping a cough). Also as a chef, it makes you feel fancy and itโs oddly satisfying scraping those tiny leaves off the stem into your simmering pan of goodness ๐๐ผ
