Some people may have questions about when they should get the vaccine that protects against pertussis (whooping cough).

The vaccine is called DTaP and it’s a combination of vaccines for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. The DTaP vaccine is a five-dose vaccine routinely given to children starting at 2 months old. The Tdap is a vaccine booster given to pregnant people, preteens and adults.

If you're unsure about your vaccine status or haven't received it, call a health care provider to learn more about becoming vaccinated.

Pertussis (whooping cough) cases in Oregon have reached an all-time high.

Whooping cough can cause severe disease in people of all ages, but babies are most at risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death from infection.

If you’re pregnant, getting a single dose of Tdap vaccine during the third trimester (weeks 27-36) helps protect your baby before they’re born.

You might have heard that parts of Oregon could see a windstorm. Storms and winter weather can cause power outages.

If you lose power, make sure to be careful when using alternative heat sources and practice portable generator safety to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Check in regularly with family, friends and neighbors who are vulnerable to extreme cold, especially if they live alone, are older or don't have heat.
