At Doula Synergy, our work is rooted in lived experience. As the founder, my own journey through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and loss—and my work through Ashley Rose Doula —revealed a critical gap in care: the emotional, practical, and informational support families need after perinatal loss often disappears once they leave the hospital.
I received compassionate medical care, yet when I returned home I was left navigating engorged breasts, caring for a toddler, wilting flowers on my kitchen counter, and profound grief—with no guidance on how to honor or tend to that loss. This is where bereavement doulas can provide essential, ongoing support.
Most people don’t realize that bereavement doulas exist. Doula care is commonly associated with pregnancy and birth, not loss—despite the fact that this kind of care can be transformative in the days, weeks, and months following perinatal loss.
Doula Synergy was created to change that. Our mission is to build a movement that trains and supports doulas, collaborates with providers, and ensures families experiencing loss receive the wraparound care they deserve. We’re hosting a focus group discussion this Wednesday and invite anyone who works with the perinatal population—or has experienced loss themselves—to join the conversation and help shape this work.
💛 Please tag someone you know who has been affected by perinatal loss, works in perinatal care, or may be interested in contributing.
