April is Deaf History Month. Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Oregonians have a rich history and play a vital role in shaping inclusive, accessible communities.

At ODHS, our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) program works to reduce barriers, promote equity, and ensure that Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing people can access services in ways that meet their communication needs.

From offering guidance and referrals to interpreter coordination, ODHHS is here to support individuals, families, and providers across the state. Learn more: https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/aging-disability-services/Pages/deaf-hard-of-hearing-services.aspx

UPDATE: Congress passed a short-term funding measure this weekend. This means that there is no partial federal government shutdown, and Congress now has until Nov. 17, 2023 to pass a long-term spending bill. We’ll continue to monitor the situation.
---

You might have heard that the federal government may partially shut down on Oct. 1, 2023 as Congress works to approve a budget. This can sound scary, but we want you to know that you will still get your benefits and services from ODHS and ONE in October 2023.

If the shutdown happens, we’ll share more information about what it means for you in future posts.
