How do you support your fascia? Fascia is part of your body's connective tissue system and it plays a huge role in movement, flexibility, and nerve function.
Think of it as a body-wide web 🌐 made of collagen that can become tight, dry and sticky if neglected. These fascia adhesions prevent muscles from gliding across on another, causing body wide tension and limiting mobility. Luckily you can prevent fascia adhesions (and potential injuries!) with three habits: movement, hydration, and heat.
🤸 Movement: Regular, varied movement through a wide range of motion keeps fascia hydrated, elastic and happy. Mobility exercises like arm and hip circles in the morning do exactly that.
💧 Hydration: Just like a sponge your fascia needs water to stay supple. Dehydration can cause it to become stiff and rigid, decreasing overall function and potentially leading to injury.
🔥 Heat: Applying heat helps to relax muscles and soften fascia tissues. Try a warm bath, heating pad, or sauna to warm up muscles and increase blood flow before intense stretching and movement.
Supporting your fascia can be a simple way to feel better in your body. We hope you are inspired to incorporate these habits into your daily routine!
