The Aurora Borealis lit up the skies over Floyd last night, painting a stunning color across the Blue Ridge. For those who missed it, there’s another chance to catch the magic tonight! Along with the possibility of seeing the northern lights again, the Northern Taurid meteor shower will reach its peak, bringing shooting stars and bright golden 'fireballs' streaking across the sky.

The Taurids are a slow but colorful meteor shower, caused by debris from Comet Encke, and are known for producing larger fragments than most other meteor showers. With very little light pollution and wide open skies, Floyd, VA offers the perfect place to look up and enjoy this rare celestial show. ✨
