What role does thirdhand smoke play in causing cancer? 🤔

A recent study shows that thirdhand smoke may both start and fuel cancer development. Growing evidence suggests that lingering thirdhand smoke can damage DNA and further accelerate cancer growth in cells. In other words, it may act as both an initiator and a promoter in the multistep process of tumor formation, making even low-level exposure a serious concern, especially for children and people with repeated contact.

Can you imagine getting in a smoky air plane? It wasn’t that long ago that this was allowed.

36 years ago, Congress banned smoking on U.S. flights to protect flight attendants and passengers. Now, Metro Airport (DTW) wants to open a cigar lounge in its main terminal—meaning flight attendants who won the right to breathe clean air ON the plane could be exposed to toxic secondhand smoke the moment they walk INTO the airport. We can't go backwards.
