What? a fundraiser benefitting Live Free Animal Rescue. Massage, Reiki, Zumba, Charm Bar, Sourdough, Sound Healing, Raffles

When? Sunday, March 15. 10a-1p
➡️Vendors begin setting up around 10a (Live Free Animal Rescue, Pearl & Petal Co., Dragonfly Dough Co., LinSynergy, Knead To Heal Mobile Massage, Moon Mother Yoga & Reiki, Vibes By Ctina - all tagged in this post)
➡️Massage & Reiki tickets need to be purchased according to your desired 20min time slot. Start times range between 10a-12:40p. Sessions end by 1p. Most ticket sales end 10min before the appointment time. Any ticket for an appointment after 12p - sales close at 12p. No tickets can be purchased after that time.
➡️Zumba 11a-12p. Ticket sales end at 10a.
➡️Dance without Dancing & Raffle Ticket sales end at 12p. (stay tuned for raffle prizes)
➡️Sound healing 12-12:30p. Any Zumba ticket with the donation of $25+ can stay to attend for no additional charge. Tickets solely for sound healing are $10. Sales close at 12p

Why? to help fund LFAR’s mission to rescue dogs from kill shelters, trauma cases, surrenders, neglect cases, etc.

How? go to www.thebindzone.com/event-details/dance-for-dogs-zumba-fundraiser-2 and select your desired ticket(s) for the event(s) you’re interested in. If you’d like to donate without participating in any services, you can select the “donate without dancing” ticket and enter a custom amount. If youd like to just enter the raffle, ticket sales will soon be posted ONLINE for those who can’t / don’t want to attend the event, but would like to enter the raffle (waiting for most/all raffle donations to be in hand prior to posting the tickets). And yes, raffle tickets can be purchased in person as well (💵 bring cash pls 💵)

let’s bring back this series 🥳 FORM FRIDAY - lunge vs split squats
another important point: your weight should be in your front foot, NOT your back foot. drive up with your front heel

DO:
✅keep chest upright, shoulders rolled away from ears
✅bend both knees, drive back knee to floor (as low as you can comfortably do so without compensating)
✅choose a weight that is comfortable for you to control
✅train track, not tightrope
✅keep your weight in your front leg, your back foot should be considered a “kickstand”. back toes to the floor, not your whole back foot
✅hinge through your knees, drive up with your front heel
✅your front knee can go over your toes as long as your heel doesn’t lift off the floor
✅regress: use a wall or hold onto something for added stability if needed

DON’T:
❌round your spine to “get lower” (you aren’t getting any closer to the floor with your knees, i promise)
❌distribute your weight to your back leg and push off with it
❌piggybacking off of the last point - straighten your front knee and put all of your weight into your back knee (i see this often)
❌have your back foot too close to your front foot - the goal is roughly a 90° angle in your knees
❌swing your arms if you’re holding weight. keep those lats engaged and shoulders in place

the difference:
lunges have a higher demand for stability due to your back leg moving. a split squat (without your back foot elevated) is a great regression if you’re struggling to coordinate for the lunge and/or balance during a lunge. get the movement pattern down, and then progress to a lunge once you feel ready.
💜staying with your shoulders stacked over your hips = more quads
✨slightly hinged forward and pushing your glutes back = more glutes (however, your quads are still working)
