We were thrilled to host the Oregon Symphony of Salem Spring Donor Recital here in our Auditorium. This was an evening of music and celebration, including an exclusive preview of the 2026/27 Salem Season, shared with donors, season ticket holders, and residents ahead of the public announcement. Post-concert desserts made by our culinary team and wine from Cristom Vineyards also made the evening extra special.

Colleen has been teaching the Line Dancing class here at Capital Manor for over two years.

Students experience an hour of line dancing to country music, oldies and yes, event waltz. This is a low impact movement class for anyone wanting challenge themselves physically and mentally, to kick up their heels and have some fun!

Colleen grew up in Hawaii where she learned hula and Okinawa dance. Colleen moved from Honolulu, HI into the Salem area in 1994. Her husband Randy introduced her to line dancing and square dancing. She has been teaching dance and Hawaiian culture for the last 25 years. We are very happy to have Colleen as a contributor to Capital Manor’s wellness programming!

Capital Manor’s March Food and Fund Drive Kicks Off!

If you’d like to contribute to Capital Manor’s fund drive, please use the following link: https://bit.ly/capitolfoodshare.

Capital Manor has long supported Marion Polk Food Share’s mission of ending hunger and its root causes and we are proud to have them as one of our not-for-profit partners again this year. In Oregon, one in eight neighbors and one in six children lack regular access to the foods they need to live a healthy life. We believe that together we can make a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger in our local community. Please join us by donating food, particularly SHELF-STABLE DAIRY, OATS OR CEREAL, SHELF-STABLE FRUIT, TUNA, and PEANUT BUTTER or funds.

We were honored to welcome Anita King back to Capital Manor for another beautiful installment of our Exploring Classical Music series. This time, she guided us through the expressive and powerful sounds of Chopin, including a stunning performance of Ballade No. 4 in F Minor.

As always, Anita combined extraordinary musicianship with thoughtful commentary, helping us experience the music on a deeper level. We are so grateful for the knowledge, artistry, and passion she continues to share with our community. Thank you, Anita, for another unforgettable evening!

We had a wonderful time welcoming The Two Bit Brothers to Capital Manor for an evening of great music and rich vocal harmonies. Bill Valach and Dwaine Wisthoff brought their signature warmth, energy, and passion to every song, filling the room with familiar favorites and plenty of smiles. One of the most special moments came at the very end of the concert, when—right on the spot—the brothers put music to lyrics written by one of our own residents. It was a spontaneous and heartfelt collaboration that made the evening truly unforgettable. Thank you, Two Bit Brothers, for sharing your music and creating such a meaningful memory with our community!

Last week we hosted our annual wine event for a group of future residents. Our Executive Chef, Matthew Eichstaedt, collaborated with Art and Mary Kuenzi, owners of Kuenzi Family Vineyard, to create four incredible food and wine pairings. We enjoyed learning about this newly established vineyard, along with great conversation, and delicious food and wine!

Embracing a better life. Embracing life better.

Since 1963, Capital Manor has been getting better and better! We are currently undergoing a five-phase expansion plan so we can meet the growing needs of the Salem community. After this plan is complete our 37 acre campus will expand to 49 acres. The 5 Phases include: 1. Expand and improve parking, 2. Build a 34 private suite state of the art Memory Care, 3. Build 34 new spacious Westside Villas for Independent Living, 4. Renovate and update our amenities and dining venues, 5. Remodel and renovate the exteriors of our existing villas.

Capital Manor offers a vibrant, active retirement lifestyle where our residents can thrive. With our focus on wellness there is always something to do to embrace a better life: take a fitness class in the pool, learn ceramics, volunteer at the library, meet friends for a glass of wine or walk your dog by the creek in the forested glen. With housekeeping, landscaping, maintenance, and a flexible dining plan, our staff take care of much of your “have-to-do” list so you can spend time on your “want-to-do” list.

Capital Manor is the only not-for-profit Life Plan (CCRC) Community within 30 miles of Salem. We are proud of our reputation in the Salem area as the community that offers the highest quality of care. Our residents have exclusive access to Capital Manor Care. As needs change over time, having access to our care, provides peace of mind for our residents and also for their family and loved ones.

We hope you will come see how we are embracing life better every day! Call to make an appointment , 503-589-3734 or visit https://www.capitalmanor.com to learn more.
