We had a wonderful morning welcoming the Oregon Military Teen Panel to Capital Manor for a special arts and crafts session. These inspiring young leaders representing military-connected youth from across Oregon spent time painting affirmation stones and making bracelets alongside our residents.

It was a meaningful and creative experience filled with conversation, laughter, and shared creativity. We’re so grateful to these teens for spending their morning with us and creating such a warm intergenerational connection.

Wellness Coordinators, Heather and Esther, are encouraging staff and residents to get moving by climbing mountains (or flights of stairs) here at Capital Manor! Our community enjoyed a wonderful Best Books of 2025 presentation hosted by the Salem Library, in partnership with our Capital Manor Library Committee and Community Life team. Through a lively slideshow, library staff shared standout novel picks chosen by both critics and Salem Library staff.

With great recommendations, good conversation, and refreshments to enjoy, it was an inspiring afternoon for anyone looking to add a few new titles to their reading list!

One of the joys of life at Capital Manor is discovering the beautiful—and sometimes playful—artwork that fills our community. This abstract painting recently caught the eye of one of our employees and he couldn’t help but notice what looks a bit like a frog wearing sunglasses hiding in the design!

Whether you see a cool frog, a burst of color, or something entirely different, that’s the fun of abstract art—it invites imagination and conversation. We love how pieces like this add creativity, character, and a touch of whimsy to our shared spaces. What do you see?

Throwing it back again but didn't want to miss the chance to share that for the first time, Dining hosted a NOON-Year's Eve celebration in the Auditorium and rang in the new year early with music, snacks, drinks, bubbles, glow sticks, and a photo booth! What a fun celebration that we hope will continue in the years to follow.

A couple weeks into 2026 but still wanted to share New Year’s Eve Game Night. It’s a tradition around here to gather together for Game Night in the Auditorium and toast in the New year by watching the ball drop at 9:00 PM! It was a joyful way to close out 2025 and welcome the New Year with smiles all around.

We were delighted to welcome the City Dance Theatre back to our community for a festive holiday dance performance. These talented young dancers filled the room with energy, grace, and seasonal spirit, sharing beautifully choreographed pieces that truly captured the joy of the holidays. From expressive movement to bright smiles and dazzling costumes, the performance was a wonderful reminder of the creativity and dedication of young artists. Thank you to Zoe Banton and the dancers of City Dance Theatre for bringing such magic and merriment to our residents!

Since 1963, Capital Manor has been getting better and better! We are currently undergoing a five-phase expansion plan so we can meet the growing needs of the Salem community. After this plan is complete our 37 acre campus will expand to 49 acres. The 5 Phases include: 1. Expand and improve parking, 2. Build a 34 private suite state of the art Memory Care, 3. Build 34 new spacious Westside Villas for Independent Living, 4. Renovate and update our amenities and dining venues, 5. Remodel and renovate the exteriors of our existing villas.

Capital Manor offers a vibrant, active retirement lifestyle where our residents can thrive.
