SALEM — Delayed from earlier this winter due to stormy weather, supporters of Mental Makeover finally took the plunge Saturday to raise awareness for mental health and su***de prevention.

Yesterday was more than just our 4th annual polar plunge. It was a reminder of what’s possible when people show up for each other.

To everyone who came out, donated, volunteered, cheered from the sidelines, or took that brave step into the water, thank you. Your presence, your energy, and your willingness to be part of our mission means more than words can hold.

We made waves yesterday. In the water, yes but also in the moments that mattered most. The conversations about mental health, the check ins, the simple act of asking someone if they’re really okay, or “how are you, really?”

Because those are the waves that last. The ones that ripple out quietly and reach people in ways we may never fully see. The ones that can change or even save a life.

What we felt yesterday was community in its purest form. People choosing connection. Choosing bravery. Choosing to remind each other that the world needs you here and that talking openly about your mental health is so important.

We’re just so grateful. For every conversation, every hug, every laugh, every shiver. For all of you. Community is EVERYTHING. Thank you, MM family. 🌊❄️🩵

TODAY is the big day! ❄️🩵🌊🎉

📍We’ll see you at the Winter Island Park boat ramp in Salem, MA. 50 Winter Island Rd.

⏰ Registration/check-in open at 12:00 PM, and the polar plunge kicks off at 1:30 PM sharp!

🚗 Volunteers will direct all cars to designated parking upon arrival. Due to the limited parking spaces at Winter Island Park, we highly encourage you to carpool if possible!

🚽 The heated Function Hall will be open for bathrooms and changing. We’ll also have changing pods under heated registration tents.

🚒 Salem Fire Department volunteers and the Salem Harbor Master will be on site.

☕ We are so excited to have join us on event day to keep us fueled with delcious coffee drinks! We’ll also have small bites, water, raffles, swag tables, music, and seating in the heated function hall.

🌊 First Time Plunging? No worries! Go at your own pace and comfortability.

🏆 First 75 registrants can claim their Mental Makeover beanie at check-in and our rockstar fundraisers can claim their fundraising prizes at our MM Merch table!

Fuel up before you freeze 🥶🌊 By the Sea Coffee Co be serving delicious coffee drinks to keep us warm(ish), energized, and ready to brave the waves.

Free for all plungers & spectators while supplies last! Because yes, we are drinking iced coffee in the cold… and no, we’re not questioning it 🤪🧋❄️

Friendly reminder ❄️🩵🚗 Parking at Winter Island is limited during winter months because of boat storage at the park, so carpool if you can! It’s a fun way to start the day together and make sure everyone gets a spot.

✔️ Foot protection (To protect your 👣 from rocks and shells on the boat ramp - crocs, water shoes, tevas, or old sneakers work great ‼️)
✔️ Warm layers
✔️ Towel
✔️ Beanie
✔️ Good vibes
