Exciting Breakthrough in Eye Care! 👁

We are thrilled to highlight the exceptional Dr. Tomasz Stryjewski, a Harvard trained retina specialist, co founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Pykus Therapeutics, and a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon here at Orchard Surgical Center.

Forbes Magazine recently featured his team’s novel innovation: PYK 2101, a next-generation biodegradable retinal sealant that could completely transform recovery after retinal detachment surgery.

This innovative "retinal patch" could eliminate the need for gas bubbles and days of face-down recovery. In early clinical trials, patients experienced visual recovery in days—not weeks—with a 91% single-surgery success rate and no serious side effects.

Though still in the clinical phase, PYK-2101 could mark a major leap forward in patient comfort and care.

“I had an endoscopy (EGD) done at Orchard Surgical Center and I am overwhelmingly impressed by how well this center is run and by how incredible the entire staff is. Everything was on time, the facility was clean, the process was efficient, and the people I met were all warm and welcoming. Luis, Laura, and Laurie were all very kind to me in pre-op. Chuck, the anesthesiologist, was so patient and reassuring. Dr Sawhney made sure that I understood the procedure and that my questions were all answered. I felt comfortable and relaxed at every step. I wish I had gotten the post-op nurse's name, because she was also incredibly kind. I love that, in a world of quick-turn appointments, I never felt like just another patient going through a process. I felt like this team made sure they took whatever time was needed to ensure my comfort. I will definitely be looking to return here in the future if I need to have other procedures done. Dr Steven Andriola of Mobility Bone and Joint Institute has been performing total and partial knee replacements with this incredible technology for more than 3 years. Patient satisfaction is extremely high with this advanced technology.

Orchard Surgical Center and Northeast Gastroenterology Associates welcomed Dr Harbir Sawhney to our team of talented gastroenterologists in early July! He comes to us with extensive knowledge and expertise in the GI field. He has a wonderful bedside manner and truly relates to his patients.
