NAMI Central Kansas NAMI Central Kansas wants to bring awareness of mental illness and walk alongside those who live wit

Mental illness affects 1 out of every 4 people in one way or another, if they're not living with it they know someone who does. Mental illness has no boundaries and is not selective based on social status, gender, age, or nationality. NAMI Central Kansas wants to build relationships with and support those who live with it. By doing so we hope to raise awareness and alleviate the stigma that sometimes follows.

Terrible news: the Administration has suddenly terminated hundreds of grants used for substance use and mental health care, with some early estimates saying these cuts add up to about $2 billion in mental health and substance use funding. This funding was approved by Congress specifically to address mental health and substance use needs across the country, including in communities like yours. We need your help RIGHT NOW to ask Congress to demand this funding be restored IMMEDIATELY.

🚨TAKE ACTION - https://conta.cc/4qSMWME

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the federal agency dedicated to addressing mental health and substance use in the U.S. SAMHSA funds grants to local communities and nonprofits working to expand the mental health workforce, awareness and education programming, crisis response training and services, su***de prevention programs, and substance use overdose prevention and treatment, among other priorities.

Unfortunately, SAMHSA terminated hundreds of grants last night, ending important funding for services in communities without warning. If these abrupt and unprecedented funding cuts stand, it will put wellness, recovery, and lives at risk.

This funding is essential to providing support to people every day, in every community. Congress provided these resources, and now we need you to tell your elected officials to stand up and demand the Administration restore these life-saving and life-changing resources.
