Dr Alvarado will be seeing patients for Saturday Sick clinic on Feb 7th to 9-1130am. Walk in or call ahead. Stay warm this weekend. Large increase in strep throat cases this week. Typical symptoms of strep will be sore throat, vomiting (especially in younger kiddos), headache, fever and absence of cold symptoms.

Dr Alvarado will be seeing patients today for Saturday sick clinic.

Flu is ramping up again and is typically looking like vomiting, generally not feeling well / fatigue , headache, fever with congestion and coughing. Fever can last 3-7 days. Mainstay of care is supportive measures with hydration and fever reducers (Tylenol or Motrin). Tamiflu can be considered for those early in the course of the illness depending on risk factors for severe flu infection. Kids should be re-evaluated for pneumonia or other bacterial infections if fever is lasting for more than 5 days.
