Heart of Salisbury is a community passionate about healthy living, great food, yoga, and arts. We are in the heart of historic Salisbury, NC, in the old Flowers Bakery Building.
Our passion is mind-body wellness that we bring via a wealth of professional yoga instructors, independent wellness service providers, wellness products, mindfulness classes, art shows, and cooking classes to the center of downtown Salisbury.
We have two yoga studios that can be combined to welcome up to (50) yogis and mats. We have seven specialized yoga instructors, each with a minimum of 200-RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) hours. Through this community of instructors, Heart of Salisbury offers Yoga for Resiliency and Trauma Recovery, Yoga 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR), Yoga for Meditation, Holy Yoga Yin Levels 1 and 2, Vinyasa Yoga, Mindfulness Yoga, and laughter yoga. Wellness
The Heart of Salisbury community includes a variety of independent wellness service providers in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, functional medicine, massage therapy, yoga therapy, nutrition, and equine therapy. The Teaching Kitchen
Food is an integral part of health and knowing how to prepare great food is an important life skill. More importantly, food is supposed to be delicious! Our mission is to bring fun into learning cooking skills, recipes, and nutrition. Our Chefs embody this mission in each of their classes and their way of teaching.
We will have both hands-on and demonstration cooking classes so you can sit back and watch a meal be prepared or get involved and cook alongside the chef. In our hands-on classes, participants cook alongside the chef, preparing most of the meal that will be enjoyed at the end of class. In our demonstration classes, participants can expect to have a fun, guided class while watching the meal being prepared.
Cooking is an act of love, especially for families. We believe having friends and families sitting at the table and sharing great food is the first step towards building healthy communities.
Art
Creativity is the zest of life! Art appreciation is a form of mindfulness that helps us become more aware of ourselves and connects us to the world outside ourselves. We are partnering with local artists in bringing unique, original artworks into our gallery spaces in sync with our goal is to incorporate art into our daily living, including our yoga studios, teaching kitchen, and wellness spaces. We invite the community to visit, pause, and take in our artwork exhibits any time we are open for business.
Shoppe
The Mind•Body•Wellness Shoppe at Heart of Salisbury specializes in wellness, cooking, clothing, accessories, and yoga products that are fair trade certified, locally made, and/or good for the environment. Our apparel philosophy is simple: Each piece of clothing must pass the yoga test: it has to feel as comfortable as yoga clothes and it has to be ethically made, respecting yoga ethics or Yamas and Niyamas. During our current interesting times, with the accompanying recommended precautions, all building visitors must wear masks. We currently offer online yoga classes, cooking classes are coming soon, and the shoppe is open Tuesday-Friday 11-3 pm and online with store pick up.
