Position Open: Communications Director

Job Summary: National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS), a public non-profit organization, is in search of a qualified candidate to fill a half-time position as a Communications Director/Manager. As a communications director, the candidate will maintain and improve the NCVS website using WordPress, schedule and manage meetings and conferences, communicate with voice and speech scientists across the country to obtain content for the website, and design newsletters and educational materials. The ideal candidate will be fluent in WordPress, graphic design, and good inter-personal communication skills.

About NCVS: NCVS is a charitable non-profit organization sharing valuable information of voice and speech. It disseminates practical consumer advice and information to the public, including general vocal effectiveness and prevention of vocal fatigue. It also develops historical records of voice and speech research, solicits and distributes monographs and translational articles, video class lectures, research reports, textbooks, and high-quality computer animations of voice and speech production. A further continuing goal is to develop and share databases for clinicians and researchers, provide expertise in voice and speech computer simulation, organize conferences and workshops, and continue to support the Summer Vocology Institute at the Utah Center for Vocology with teaching materials.

Job Responsibilities:
• Design, build, maintain, and update NCVS website.
• Generate image, video, and audio content to upload onto the website.
• Schedule and plan meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Communicate with NCVS research collaborators to solicit content for the website.
• Ensure continuous improvement in user experience of the website.
• Manage NCVS social media webpages.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Experience in WordPress website design, building and management.
• Knowledge of User Interface design.
• Experience with Adobe creative suite.
• Experience with video editing is desirable.
• Experience with organizing meetings, workshops, and academic conferences is a plus.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• Knowledge of voice and speech is a plus.
Job Type: Half-time contract position.
Pay: $35000 per year

Justin D. Gull, MD, is an ear, nose, and throat physician and surgeon at ENT Specialists. Serving the communities of Salt Lake City, Murray, Draper, Tooele, and West Jordan, Utah, he specializes in complaints of the ears and hearing, audiology and assistive listening devices, nose and sinus problems (including sinus and cosmetic nasal surgery), vocal disorders, pediatric ENT care, and environmental allergies.

Dr. Gull graduated from the Waterford School in Sandy, Utah, and then attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, where he received a bachelor’s degree in French.

He subsequently pursued his medical degree at the University of Utah (class of 2003) before returning east to complete a five-year residency in otolaryngology at the University of Connecticut in Mansfield. Upon completing his education, he returned to Utah to continue his medical career.

At ENT Specialists, Dr. Gull enjoys caring for patients of all ages with ear, nose, and throat problems. He strives to stay current with medical knowledge and surgical skills in order to provide his patients with the best, up-to-date care available. He is interested in new technologies shown to improve patient health and quality of life.

Dr. Gull is conservative when recommending significant intervention and medication or antibiotic usage, preferring at times to allow the body’s natural mechanisms, coupled with simple therapies, improve health. He recognizes the patient’s indispensable role in health maintenance and treats patient education and dialogue as vital components of a successful patient-physician relationship.

Dr. Gull enjoys his wife’s photography and scrapbooking pursuits, and his three children find new and interesting ways to keep him busy. During his spare time, he enjoys winter sports, biking, running, doing water sports, or quietly reading.
