Daphne Perry was one of the key physical therapists throughout my recovery from my accident back in November 2023. She is a champion in my book.
This month, we’re celebrating Daphne Perry, PT, who is retiring from the Burn Center after an extraordinary 32 years of service.
Daphne first arrived at the Burn Unit as a student in 1993 and knew almost instantly that she had found her calling. Originally drawn to athletic training, her own recovery from hip injuries led her to physical therapy and ultimately to a lifelong passion for burn care.
Over the past three decades, Daphne has helped shape the evolution of burn therapy. She supported the expansion of the therapy team, advanced splinting and mobility practices, and contributed to outreach and telemedicine programs. She was instrumental in developing protocols for cultured epithelial autografts, improving outcomes for patients with severe burns. Through her leadership in the American Burn Association, she also helped address critical gaps in burn therapy knowledge nationwide.
Some of Daphne’s most memorable moments include watching patients go from standing to walking laps within days—and seeing them return to their daily lives fully functional. She’ll deeply miss celebrating patient milestones and the strong camaraderie of the Burn Team, her “second family.”
Daphne leaves behind a legacy of compassion, innovation, and unwavering dedication. Her impact on patients, colleagues, and the field of burn care will be felt for years to come.
Thank you, Daphne, for 32 remarkable years. Your legacy will continue to inspire us all. ❤️
