Recently, I have had many patients ask me what they can do to strengthen their immune system to prevent colds, flu and other viruses, especially in wake of the recent corona virus situation. Here are my recommendations...
1. Get into our office and have your autonomic nervous system tested. This objective test will show if your body is appropriately adapting to stress. 2. Supplement your body with vitamins and minerals: Increase levels of vitamin C, vitamin D. I personally use, and recommend to my patients: amla C, vitamin D from Protocol and trace minerals from Morter Health Systems.
3. Herbs that can help: Start taking garlic. I use a product called Garlic Forte from MediHerb. It's like taking 3-4 cloves of garlic in 1 pill, and they do not make you smell like garlic!
4. Get enough sleep at night! The immune system does much better when getting adequate amounts of sleep at night.
5. Drink plenty of clean water.
6. Eat less processed food and more fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as whole foods. Reduce simple processed sugars.
7. Exercise regularly. Exercise helps strengthen the heart and lungs, as well as creating good circulation and lymphatic flow, which is involved in every healing process in the body.
8. Reduce stress by rhythmic breathing, walking, meditating, tai chi, or whatever helps you relax!
