The article describes ARUP’s validation of a dual-target measles assay that detects the measles virus and distinguishes between disease-causing and vaccine strains of the virus. The inclusion of a target for a vaccine strain of the virus enables clinicians to determine whether a rash is associated with vaccination or measles infection, better facilitating patient management strategies.
