Yes! According to our friends over at , cannabis use does not disqualify donors, and medical cannabis users are always welcome if their health otherwise allows.

Most blood centers recommend a wait of up to 24 hours between using cannabis and donating. You don't have to abstain from cannabis, but your memory and comprehension must be unaffected.

We encourage our patients to donate blood if their health allows it. A single blood donation could save the lives of up to three people!

Many new users of medical cannabis are concerned about side effects, and more often than not, it's the amount which causes problems. We offer individualized care plans where a licensed cannabis practitioner will discuss product selection and dosage titration.

Our goal is to provide relief for each patient with products and dosing to meet your individual needs!

Not at all. State law protects your right to own and/or possess fi****ms and ammunition, as well as the right to obtain fi****ms licenses and certification. Your status as a registered Mississippi medical cannabis patient or caregiver means you are protected from state and local authorities.

But remember, that protection only extends as far as the state, for people with a valid medical cannabis patient or caregiver card. Fi****ms must be properly registered and legally purchased.

Great news—studies are now confirming that cannabis does NOT cause weight gain, either directly or indirectly. In fact, we've seen some of our patients lose substantial amounts of weight since beginning their cannabis journey.

If you are trying to lose weight, there are plenty of noncaloric options for getting your cannabis in. Talk to your favorite budtender—they might have some excellent suggestions!

Unfortunately, medical cannabis is still illegal on the federal level. And as the federal Department of Transportation has authority over the interstate highway system, they test for cannabis and other medications under federal authority. Drug testing is mandatory for over-the-road truckers (as well as airline pilots, ship captains, and others involved in commercial transportation), and a positive test could cost you your commercial license.

But there is hope on the horizon. Medical cannabis is a hot topic in Washington, and there's a movement to deschedule cannabis (in other words, to make it legal). How this would affect people who are employed in transportation has yet to be determined, as the DOT promises its drug-testing policies will not change. But with time and better education about the benefits of cannabis, that could all change—stay tuned!

Studies on medical cannabis still have a long ways to go, but we're already seeing some potentially good news for diabetics.

For example, a study in Sweden involving nearly 18,000 participants found a lower risk of type 2 diabetes among cannabis users, with an odds ratio of 0.68, indicating a significantly reduced risk. Similar findings from a US study support this, showing lower diabetes incidence among past and current cannabis users.

So should I add medical cannabis to my treatment? That's a question for your MD, endocrinologist, or other care provider specializing in diabetes and medical cannabis.

Of course, you should always make sure your care provider knows ALL the medications you are on, including cannabis and any medications for diabetes. And you should NEVER discontinue any medication without the advice of a care provider.

No. Mississippi is quite clear about possession of medical cannabis, with lots of limitations:

• No person can possess more than 28 MMCEUs per month, which is equivalent to ~98 grams of cannabis flower, 28,000 mg THC in cannabis concentrate, or 28,000 mg THC in edibles. Patients and caregivers may transport up to this amount.

• There are no possession limits for nonconsumable items, like ointments, lotions, and soaps.

• Medical cannabis must be transported in its original, factory-sealed packaging. Cannabis must remain out of sight for the duration of the transport. Consuming cannabis in a vehicle is prohibited.

• Consuming medical cannabis is forbidden in public places.

• Unless specifically authorized, patients may not possess or use cannabis in a correctional facility.

And of course, medical cannabis should *never* be used around children, pets, or anyone sensitive to the smoke and/or vapors created. And obviously, remember that it is unlawful to share your cannabis products. For more information, visit the Mississippi Medical Ma*****na Association at https://www.3mams.org/health.
