Many patients report better sleep when using medical cannabis. In some cases, they simply sleep better because they finally have relief from ongoing health issues.

A good night of sleep can reduce inflammation and boost your immune response. Here are some tips for patients to make the most of their sleep:

• Stick to your schedule. An irregular sleep schedule can undermine your health and interrupt your body's natural ability to heal itself. Aim for going to bed and rising at the same time every day of the week.

• Make your environment sleep-ready. Most people sleep their best when the room is cool, dark, and quiet. Use blackout curtains, a fan, a white noise machine, or whatever else helps eliminate threats to your sleep. If pets are keeping you up, you might have to ban them from the bedroom.

• Avoid eating or drinking overly large or heavy meals before bed. Ni****ne, caffeine, and alcohol should be avoided, as they don't help sleep and might actually make your sleep worse.

• Avoid naps, if you can. If you must have a midday snooze, limit it to one hour, and keep it as far from bedtime as possible.

• Learn how to manage your stress. Stress causes the release of cortisol, which can shred a good night's sleep. Relaxation techniques like self-hypnosis, meditation, and mindfulness help lower cortisol.

If you're still having issues with sleep, book an appointment with us today and see if you qualify for medical cannabis. And sleep tight!

What on earth is a terpene? Terpenes are naturally-occurring chemicals found in many plants. These chemicals are also found in the cannabis plant.

Terpenes are what give pine trees their distinctly woodsy smell, and citrus fruit that fresh, crisp scent. While they have little effect in edibles, they can subtly alter the effects of THC and CBD.

In the coming weeks, we'll be looking at various terpenes and their benefits. Your dispensary can be a huge help in finding the terpenes which work best for your needs.

The folks over at NORML have included Set and Setting in their "Principles Of Responsible Cannabis Use". The principles include the following:

• Adults Only—cannabis should be kept away from children (and pets!) so it isn't accidentally consumed. It is irresponsible to give a child cannabis unless prescribed by a medical provider.

• No Driving—driving while distracted, be it from fatigue, texting on a cellular phone, or using medical cannabis, is dangerous. Wait until you are well-rested and fully attentive.

• Set and Setting—by "set", we're referring to the user's mindset. "Setting" refers to when and where you consume cannabis products. At all times, you should be aware of how your cannabis use might affect other people.

• Resist Abuse—responsible cannabis users will decline to use cannabis at any time that it's uncomfortable, dangerous, or is detrimental to health or personal development and achievement.

• Respect The Rights Of Others—cannabis is a choice, and one that must never be forced upon anyone. That includes smoke, vapors, and other byproducts of cannabis. Make sure others are not being affected by your choice.

Responsible use of cannabis is the key to keeping it legal for all!

Not at all. A loophole in the Farm Bill of 2018 allows businesses to sell certain hemp-derived products without any regulation. These products, with names like Spice, Delta-8, and K2, are synthetic or semisynthetic cannabinoids manufactured from the cannabidiol (CBD) in cannabis.

This "gas station w**d" contains adulterants, and rarely does it provide correct and true information about what ingredients it contains. Emergency rooms have reported an increase in visits related to these items, particularly among youth, and many states are banning these products in the interests of public safety.

Mississippi's Medical Cannabis Program (MMCP) makes sure that patients have access to safe, medically pure cannabis. And only a licensed provider can certify you for medical cannabis—call us for a consultation today!

Yes! According to our friends over at , cannabis use does not disqualify donors, and medical cannabis users are always welcome if their health otherwise allows.

Most blood centers recommend a wait of up to 24 hours between using cannabis and donating. You don't have to abstain from cannabis, but your memory and comprehension must be unaffected.

We encourage our patients to donate blood if their health allows it. A single blood donation could save the lives of up to three people!

Not at all. State law protects your right to own and/or possess fi****ms and ammunition, as well as the right to obtain fi****ms licenses and certification. Your status as a registered Mississippi medical cannabis patient or caregiver means you are protected from state and local authorities.

But remember, that protection only extends as far as the state, for people with a valid medical cannabis patient or caregiver card. Fi****ms must be properly registered and legally purchased.

Great news—studies are now confirming that cannabis does NOT cause weight gain, either directly or indirectly. In fact, we've seen some of our patients lose substantial amounts of weight since beginning their cannabis journey.

If you are trying to lose weight, there are plenty of noncaloric options for getting your cannabis in. Talk to your favorite budtender—they might have some excellent suggestions!
