237,000 deaf students are enrolled in college today.

And their paths don’t look the same as their hearing peers.

Most are:
- Choosing online learning for accessibility and flexibility
- Starting college later after high school
- Pursuing associate and bachelor degrees at their own pace

This isn’t a gap in ability—it’s a reflection of how systems, access, and support shape outcomes.

At Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss, we see what happens when students are equipped early with the right tools:
- Strong listening and language foundations
- Self-advocacy skills
- Strategies for navigating real-world learning environments

Because college readiness doesn’t start in college—it starts in childhood.

When we prepare students to understand their hearing needs, communicate confidently, and access instruction fully, we change their trajectory long before they step onto a campus (or log into a classroom).

This is why early, targeted support matters.
This is why educators and families need evidence-based tools.
This is why our work continues.

BIG impact. Small team. 💥

And this quarter proved just how powerful that combination can be.

At Supporting Success for Children with Hearing Loss, every resource, every connection, and every conversation is rooted in one goal: helping children who are deaf or hard of hearing thrive.

Here’s a glimpse of what YOU helped make possible 👇

- We delivered 20+ high-impact resources
- Equipped dozens of educators with tools that actually work
- Reached thousands of children in classrooms across the country

And the momentum? It’s real.

Educators are loving our go-to tools—from the Itinerant Teacher’s Handbook to listening and auditory assessments that bring clarity and confidence into the classroom.

We’re also seeing powerful engagement with resources that build self-advocacy, independence, and real-world skills—because success goes far beyond academics.

🌎 Beyond the numbers, this quarter was about CONNECTION:
We hosted a Mini-Conference, expanded national collaborations, and worked alongside passionate professionals across TX, HI, NM, NH, and GA.

And at EHDI, we didn’t just attend—we built relationships, exchanged ideas, and strengthened a shared mission to support every child’s potential.

This is what growth with purpose looks like.
We’re just getting started.

If you believe every child deserves access, confidence, and success…

👉 Follow, share, and be part of the impact.

Children with hearing differences don’t need limits.

They need support.

This week, we’re at EHDI 2026, and honestly, it’s so much more than a conference. It’s a community of dedicated professionals, families, and advocates all coming together to make sure every child with a hearing difference thrives.

Because when students who are deaf or hard of hearing have real, meaningful access, everything changes. Confidence soars. Connections happen. Futures take off.

We’re proud to be here, counted among so many other individuals, all with one mission in our hearts - To keep showing up every day for our kids.

And if it’s one thing we keep seeing while we’re here, it’s this: There’s so much more that’s possible than what people think.

IEP Tip of the Week: Share Data Clearly
Data only helps the team if everyone understands it.

When sharing assessment results:
• Skip the jargon
• Use visuals
• Explain classroom impact

Clear communication leads to stronger IEP decisions for students with hearing loss.

How do you share data with your IEP teams? We'd love to see your high impact examples in the comments!

Calling all New Jersey AP teachers!

This form is being used to help gather data for an Advanced Placement (AP) Research Project exploring New Jersey AP teachers' perspectives related to accommodating high school students with hearing loss. The study aims to understand how prepared teachers feel to accommodate students with hearing loss in their AP classes and the factors that shape those perceptions. This research is not an evaluation of individual teachers or schools. Rather, it seeks to identify educators’ collective challenges and needs in an effort to better support AP teachers in accommodating students with hearing loss across New Jersey. All information will be kept confidential.

The structure of this survey was modeled off Tara Kaczorowski & Sonia M. Kline's research paper: Teachers' Perceptions of Preparedness to Teach Students with Disabilities. A select few questions are also modeled off Alice Eriks-Brophy & JoAnne Whittingham's research paper: Teachers’ Perceptions of the Inclusion of Children With Hearing Loss in General Education Settings. Every question is optional.

ELIGIBILITY: This survey is only for high school Advanced Placement (AP) teachers in New Jersey. Prior experience teaching students with hearing loss is NOT required to participate.
