Trusting Your Senses 👀👃🏻👄👂🏼☝🏽😌

What do you trust more — what you see, hear, and know right now, or what your mind says could happen?
ICBT helps you return to the reality of your senses instead of chasing endless “what ifs.”
🔑 Recovery is about trusting the world as it is, not as your fear imagines it to be.

Freedom comes when you stop giving imagination more weight than reality. 😎

OCD tricks you into leaving reality and stepping into imagination.

Reality-based reasoning: “I see the stove is off.” 👀

Obsessional reasoning: “But what if it somehow turned back on?”

ICBT teaches you to spot that switch so you can step back into reality instead of chasing “what ifs.”

Awareness and trust in your senses and self = freedom.

OCD makes you believe you need absolute certainty before moving forward. But life isn’t about certainty - it’s about learning to trust yourself. I-CBT helps you build that trust.

Struggling with OCD? Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) goes deeper than just managing the content of your thoughts - it targets the reasoning process that gives those thoughts power in the first place.

I-CBT helps you recognize when you’re reasoning from imagination instead of reality. It teaches you to step out of obsessional logic and re-anchor in the here and now.

Instead of asking “Could this be true?” we ask:
👉 Where is this doubt coming from?
👉 Am I confusing a feeling with a fact?
👉 Am I reasoning from a possibility rather than a real probability?

When you learn to recognize obsessional doubt for what it is - a product of imagination, not reality - it loses its grip.

I-CBT doesn’t just fight the fire. It cuts off the fuel.

OCD feels urgent, scary, and loud—your intuition is steady and quiet. I-CBT helps you recognize when doubt is tricking you into reacting. You don’t have to engage with false alarms.

Most people have heard of ERP for OCD, but have you heard of Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT)?

I-CBT targets why someone with OCD gets stuck in doubt in the first place-before compulsions even start. Instead of focusing on exposure, it helps people rebuild trust in their reasoning.

For some, this approach feels less overwhelming than ERP and can be just as effective.

OCD treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all. If ERP hasn’t worked for you, I-CBT might be worth exploring!

Intrusive thoughts get stuck because we give them meaning. We over value their importance. Think of intrusive thoughts as spam mail and simply disregard.
