When memories from the past are awakened or triggered, our brain believes what happened in the past is actually happening again, right now. We feel threatened. The brain response is fight, flight, freeze or collapse.

Work towards staying regulated. Respond with compassion, understanding, and boundaries. Remind yourself “That was then, this is now, I am safe”.
