Little Wishes

Little Wishes Little Wishes grants the immediate and ongoing wishes of chronically and critically ill, hospitalized children.

Little Wishes™ makes a big difference for seriously ill, hospitalized children facing difficult journeys. A non-profit founded by two pediatric oncology/PICU nurses in 2003, Little Wishes helps prevent patients from losing their identity to illness by tapping into their passions. Young patients may identify what makes them happy and wish for something that will fill their hearts and brighten their darkest days. What makes Little Wishes unique is that a patient may wish for something every two weeks giving them a positive event to look forward to. Some children spend hours searching online for their wish, providing a sense of control and healing distraction from pain. Receiving wishes also helps little patients replace anxiety and fear with hope and joy. All wishes take place in the hospital and are delivered with fanfare by hospital staff. Milestones spent in the hospital are also celebrated including birthdays, graduations, and completion of treatment, creating a sense of community. In addition, Little Wishes provides comfort in a child's final days surrounding them with their most cherished belongings and providing memory making kits and keepsake lockets for the family to hold on to forever. Little Wishes has granted over 25,000 wishes to date. Little Wishes is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization Federal Tax ID 52-2386886

Julian is just beginning his fight with leukemia.
And in a world filled with medicine and uncertainty, play is where he feels safe.
Cars. Dinosaurs…the things that help him feel comfort. Today he opened his little wishes
and moments like this bring him a healing joy that medicine alone can’t provide. 💚✨

“Belle was diagnosed with HLHS, a severe heart defect, when she was in my tummy at just 20 weeks. She has already undergone a couple of surgeries, but ultimately, she needs a new heart, so now we are waiting for a heart transplant. Our wishes were for Christmas blankets, accessible clothing, and toys that she has truly loved so far. I absolutely loved watching her stare at her little Baby Einstein aquarium. Thank you for spreading joy and granting these wishes. It brings me joy to make wishes for my baby and to give her some sense of normalcy. It means joy every few weeks, and the excitement of watching our daughter look beautiful in her new clothes or enjoy her new toys.”- Belle’s Mommy

If smelling good was a sport, Trey would be MVP.
He’s fought through osteosarcoma, pulmonary metastases, major surgery, and months of chemo
and still shows up every week styled, smiling, and smelling incredible.
His 15th birthday wish? The “bougie” cologne he loves.

A tragic accident left siblings without their family, recovering in the hospital, and without the winter clothing they needed. This Silent Wish made sure they received warm jackets, sturdy boots, soft shirts, and journals for the moments when speaking feels too hard.
*Silent Wishes are requests rooted in deep hardship. They are rarely shared publicly, yet their impact reaches far. Little Wishes grants hundreds of Silent Wishes every year.🙏🏼💚

Childhood cancer steals birthdays, milestones, and pieces of childhood that should never be touched. And yet kids like Grace fight with a strength
far bigger than their years.
At Little Wishes, we do everything we can to bring moments of joy back into their days
when they need it most. 💚

Many don’t know what Sickle Cell can take from a child. The sudden pain crises that stop everything.
The long hospital stays that follow.
The moments missed while life keeps moving outside. For 16-year-old Qualia, this was one of those stays. So she wished for Christmas to come a little early:
a tiny tree, lights, cookies to share,
and a refurbished phone to stay close to her family and friends.
With helping deliver her Christmas wish, her room glowed with Christmas joy. 💚 Maynard Children’s Hospital

The magic of Little Wishes isn’t in the gifts themselves…
it’s in the joy, the relief, and the smiles that follow during the toughest of times.
Thank you for helping us deliver that magic every day. 💚✨

Some moments say everything…🥹Tevin is in treatment for a rare brain tumor. Before opening his little wishes, he reaches for hugs. His mom has to work to support their family,
so FaceTime is how she stays close. She watches him light up as he shows her his new Sonic game, the remote-control car,
and the stretchy Sonic toy he uses on harder days.
Your support creates moments of joy like these. 💚✨ (link in bio)

Eight years ago today, Naomi received her new heart. Today she returned to the hospital for a biopsy to make sure it is still strong. She has autism, and being in the hospital can feel especially overwhelming for her.
But today was her 9th birthday.
So before anything hard, we made sure she walked into a room that felt joyful and safe, filled with birthday surprises and her dream bike.💚

Skylar started a 28-day chemo infusion on her 10th birthday and spent most of the day fighting waves of nausea. So when her little wishes arrived (filled with the beauty things she loves) it brought distraction and a little relief. After four-hour nap, she woke up able to enjoy her favorite steakhouse dinner. On days like this, the smallest bit of comfort becomes the biggest gift.💚 Maynard Children’s Hospital music cred:

Our Story

Since 2003, Little Wishes has helped seriously ill, hospitalized children from losing their identity to illness by tapping into their passions. We encourage even the tiniest of patients to identify their happiest desire and wish for something that will fill their heart and brighten their darkest days.

Each wish, no matter how simple – a princess dress, Spiderman figure, book or a musical instrument – makes a huge difference by providing a welcome diversion and easing the discomfort of long hospitalizations and painful treatments.

All wishes are granted in the hospital and delivered with fanfare and song by hospital staff to celebrate the patient and build a supportive community. Nine-year-old cancer warrior Ryker said it best: “Little Wishes gives you that ‘we can get through this feeling’,” upon receiving his wish of a crab leg dinner to curb his chemo craving.

What makes our Little Wishes™ program unique (and why we keep the gifts little) is that a qualified child may make another wish 14 days after receiving their first little wish, and every 14 days thereafter. This is really meaningful for children who endure frequent hospitalizations or for a child who has been in the hospital for weeks or months, even years at a time.
