Farrell Topham IBCLC, Lactation Consultant

Farrell Topham IBCLC, Lactation Consultant I am a board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC), serving the San Francisco Bay Area. Hi!

My name is Farrell Topham and I am a certificated lactation educator counselor (CLEC), student lactation consultant (IBCLC), and certified postpartum doula. I started this practice because I believe that all women and babies have the right to empowered, optimal health. As a postpartum doula, I support the entire family’s physical and emotional needs so that the journey into parenthood is a smooth and joyful transition. As a lactation educator counselor and student lactation consultant, I give mothers the practical guidance and care they need to achieve their feeding goals and thrive! I firmly believe that in addition to care from practitioners like myself, mothers need role models and community. At my practice, I encourage community role modeling and advocacy through collaboration with local SF Bay Area mother’s groups, La Leche League, and the Breastfeeding Coalition. In order to continue breastfeeding beyond the first 6 months of their child’s life, mothers require access to support and preparation for integrating this commitment to health and empowerment into their jobs and workplace environment. I prepare mothers for transitioning back to work or school, and facilitate details like pumping, child care, referrals, and real life logistics.

Truth!! Can’t wait for the next 18-20+ months 😂🤪

Infants sleeping through the night is not the norm, and should not be expected of them. Sleep deprivation is brutal but part of new parenthood. Please know that your baby waking up every few hours looking for comfort, reassurance, and a snack, is totally normal, and to be expected.
