I say it to almost all of my clients,
"It's OKAY to think about yourself". Most of them are experiencing regret, guilt, shame or sadness. Some because they are addicts or alcoholics and some because they are trauma victims. When we talk about those emotional reactions of guilt and shame, I tell them that it is okay to think about themselves. It isn't selfish. In fact it is one of the most unselfish things they can do... because a better them leads to a better outcome for everybody else.

Need some more clarification on what I mean? Come see me at Tim's Pyramid Therapy. I can help you with this and more...

Have not posted for a while because I am here in the Philippines with my wife and Filipino family. Being here causes me to think about all of the things I am grateful for. Family, friends, God, hope, faith, and love. I am doing Zoom sessions with about 70% of my clients to help them continue their growth and I find it rewarding and humbling at the same time.
I want everyone who reads this to remember that things can always be better...lives and people can change...and if you need help or someone to help you get on the path to living the life you want to live...I am always here...even when I am in the Philippines...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....

Survivors
Recently I talked about the status of Victimhood. Today let’s talk about the other side of that and what it means to be a SURVIVOR. When you suffer a trauma and ultimately develop PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) you have a set of symptoms that at the core are Anxiety, Anger, and Depression. Once they have taken over your life it is easy to claim, and rightly so, that you are a Victim of the trauma…not something you chose. The difference between a Victim and a Survivor is that a Survivor recognizes that they now have a choice with what to do with their future. Survivors accept that the trauma happened but refuse to let it define them. I have taught them that they can LIVE again, not just Exist. You see, becoming a Survivor is a CHOICE. If you or someone you know is a Victim and suffers from PTSD come see me at Tim’s Pyramid Therapy. Make a choice to become a Survivor and I will help you get there.

Today I would like to talk about Victimhood. What is Victimhood? Let me start with telling you I am not talking about a Political position or someone who complains about everything that doesn’t go their way. I am talking about the Insidious effect of having PTSD and the long term symptom impact. Victimhood is the state of never having to move forward because you can always say that the trauma you suffered was not your fault or you didn’t ask for it. When this happens it is NEVER up to the victim to get better…it is always up to someone else. Either the perpetrators who caused the trauma or a close friend or even a therapist who they turn that responsibility over to. As long as they are a victim they never have to get better and can blame ALL of the problems in their life on the trauma…even when they are not connected. I have worked with countless PTSD sufferers and each of them lived the Victimhood stance. If this sounds like you or someone you know I can help you or them move past being a Victim to being a Survivor. Come and see me at Tim's Pyramid Therapy and we will work together to get your life back.

Addiction is one of the biggest Mental Health problems in the world today. It is estimated that 10% of the US population is either currently or at some point in the past addicted to drugs or alcohol. In my practice we explore the impact of all types of addiction on the body, the way we think, and our interpersonal relationships. If you are using drugs or alcohol and know that any of these areas are being negatively impacted and still use...then you meet the criteria of addiction. Come and see me at Tim's Pyramid Therapy and we will work together to get your life back.

Anger is a secondary emotion. In other words you must feel another emotion to get to anger. Sometimes it is jealousy, fear, shame, or any other myriad of primary emotions but the end result is that we turn it into anger.
Picture a person minding their own business headed to work when a car swoops in front of them and almost hits them. FEAR happens. They then turn Fear into Anger and use that emotion to respond.
How would you respond? Would you chase them down? Cut them off? Honk and flip them off? Or would you recognize that how you respond is more important than the fear and anger you experienced? The choice at the end of the day is YOURS. Don't be a prisoner of unchecked anger. These are some of the things you can work on with me at my practice. Tim's Pyramid Therapy.

Two months completed in my new office and liking how I am now actually working in the Medical Center. I also like the fact that I now have a big screen TV in the lobby for my clients to watch while waiting on their sessions
