The perfect environment for giving birth is: warm, safe, private, quiet, dark.

These five elements will help you to feel relaxed and secure. Your body can then release the hormone you need for labour to progress, and the hormones that will help you through labour. If you feel safe and undisturbed, you will be able to focus on giving birth to your baby.

The people present in your birth space can affect your labor. Having only those present who you feel uninhibited by provides a private environment to allow you to relax. On the other hand, having too many people around or people who you’re not completely comfortable with can hinder your body’s labor pattern.
