A HUGE thank you and shoutout to our growing number of surgeons for thinking outside the circle and using our Revolution External Fixation System. This case involved 2 plane homolateral dislocation fractures. Details, below:

"This was a gentleman who fell while canoeing in a river and sustained a complete Homolateral and dorsally displaced lisfranc fracture-dislocation. Treatment consisted initially of compression for edema followed by wire distraction of the forefoot, open reduction with internal fixation and bone grafting. opposing Olive wires in the forefoot and calcaneus for stabilization. Olive wire reduction was used for the 4th and 5th metatarsals on the cuboid."

A big thank you to one of our many rockstar surgeons, Dr. Dallin Greene, for thinking outside the circle. This was an ankle distraction case, and the patient had a severe Osteochondral defect. After resurfacing the talar dome, Dr. Greene used the frame to decompress the ankle joint.

Many thanks to one of our biggest Metalogix advocates, Dr. Lee M. Hlad, DPM, for thinking outside the circle. Check out this sural flap case he performed. In his own words:

"Tired of being confined by rings? Here a patient with a chronic sinus wound on lateral foot from calcaneal fracture with deep calc osteo. Patient has undergone serial washouts with cement placement until negative cultures have been obtained. Based on patients anatomical limitations reverse sural flap was the flap of choice. One can see the widescreen view of the flap field as well as ease one has in surgically maneuvering around Metalogix's unparalleled open plate concept. Flap can be done without modifying the frame at all! modular struts and unique plates allow quick offloading options in prone or supine positions. For your orthoplastics offloading needs think outside the ring and maximize your working field of view."

Another successful case using our Revolution External Fixation System. Performed by Dr. Jeff Holmes, DPM, this was a previous TTC with nail/ex-fx that became infected. Dr. Holmes removed the nail, placed an antibiotic nail, and added the Revolution External Fixation System to compress through the nail using three half-rings to the tibia. Distal ring was flipped 180 degrees to match up with the foot plate, allowing him to compress across the ankle joint with three bolts. Thank you, Dr. Holmes, for thinking outside the circle!

Many thanks to one of our champion surgeons, Dr. Lee M. Hlad, DPM, FACFAS, for thinking outside the circle and using our Revolution External Fixation System. See pre-op and post-op photos, below. In his own words:

Open ankle dislocation with large anterio-lateral laceration from MVA. Reduction performed to allow no skin tension but also to hold talus in slight diastasis and to reduce motion allowing talus to hopefully recover without AVN. Simple construct, and application in under 20 minutes: two half pins in tibia attached to i-Plate, one shantz pin in calc hooked to n-Plate. Three rapid adjust struts. Attach, reduce, tighten, done. No limitations of circles and suturing around frame made easy when thinking outside the ring.

A HUGE shoutout to Dr. Robert Olson, DPM, for thinking outside the circle. This surgery was performed due to bilateral calcaneal fractures from the patient falling off a roof. The right -- comminuted, minimally displaced. Applied the Revolution External Fixation System for neutralization, stabilization, early partial WB-ing. The left -- highly comminuted with significant joint depression - reduction with primary STJ arthrodesis. Images are in order.
